The Scottish Metrical Psalter added...

Often referred to as "The Scottish Psalter of 1650" because the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland approved the text of this Psalter for use by the church in 1650. Sometimes, as is our practice on this site, the name is shortened to just "The Scottish Psalter." This Psalter has been in continuous use since its initial publication, and has remained unaltered, except for some modernized spelling, from its original wording during all that time.

Re: The Scottish Metrical Psalter added...

These are going to be a blessing indeed!!

1 Blessed are they that undefil'd,
and straight are in the way;
Who in the Lord's most holy law
do walk, and do not stray.

2 Blessed are they who to observe
his statutes are inclin'd;
And who do seek the living God
with their whole heart and mind.

3 Such in his ways do walk, and they
do no iniquity.
4 Thou hast commanded us to keep
thy precepts carefully.

5 O that thy statutes to observe
thou would'st my ways direct!
6 Then shall I not be sham'd, when I
thy precepts all respect.

7 Then with integrity of heart
thee will I praise and bless,
When I the judgments all have learn'd
of thy pure righteousness.

8 That I will keep thy statutes all
firmly resolv'd have I:
O do not then, most gracious God,
forsake me utterly.

 Re:

I am going to try and find some audio mp3's of people singing these. It would be wonderful to sing through these like the older saints 100's of years ago. In the hebrides islands they just sang psalms as duncan campbell reported.

 Re:

Greg,
it is wonderful hearing metrical psalms being sung, but there is nothing like it when they are sung in Scottish Gaelic.

Check this out: http://www.gaelicpsalmsinging.com/salm/page3.php

 Re:

Amazing...this is wonderful. I plan on trying to read at least one a day and study it against the Biblical version...

You'll find some tunes here:

Look for the links at the foot of their webpage:

'For a more complete explanation, read: What is Metre

Metrical Psalms are intended to be sung.
Here is a selection of Public domain music that can be used with many different sets of words'
