The Power of God: Testimony of a Changed Life

I am so grateful to Jesus for changing my passions and desires. For rescuing me from my own bentness towards wickedness, selfishness and sin.

My life was ruined from sex, drugs, alcohol, weed, cursing, lying, stealing and breaking the law. I will never forget the man God sent to me while I was in jail for 6 months and my mom was praying for me. It was like when he came into my cell to pray with me and read with me and cry with me, it was like GOD was in the cell with me, I really felt Him!

I had been in alcoholics anonymous, narcotics anonymous, chemical dependency clinic, jails, courts, and other man-help-man programs all over Michigan. Drugs like LSD and ecstasy, opium and pot had put my mind in such a haze that I lost any of the love that I had for my family or myself. That was one of the 1st things Christ did for me when I gave my life to Him, He gave me the ability to love myself again and actually make decisions that reflect that.

Now, I've been sober for almost 5 years and am studying to go into the ministry through Global University in Missouri. I lost 5 friends in the span of a year and a half to overdoses and drunk driving accidents. That is what should've happened to me or would've happened to me had God not intervened in my life the last time I was in jail.

A prophetic missionary from the Forgotten Man ministries confronted me while I was locked up, just waiting to get out and start drug-dealing again, and told me that Jesus still wanted my life and that I did not have to stay on the path I was on.

Praise You, Lord, You are the Only One who can change a heart and I give you praise. I will never forget what Jesus has done in my life, nor will I forget that He is able to save completely all those who call upon Him. God meant me while I was locked in a cold jail where I know His Spirit was not welcome, but He was bold to come to me and speak His truth to my heart.

During that sentence, I read the entire Bible in about 45 days and continued to study and read the rest of my sentence. When I got out of jail, I was baptized in water and then filled with the Holy Spirit during a following prayer meeting.

During the meeting I was 'slain in the Holy Spirit' as they say and God healed my mind from the drugs I had done. I have never had another flashback from all of the hallucinogens I had done since that night and while I prayed under the Spirit, the Lord spoke to me that He had healed my mind.

Now today I am free from all of the drugs, sex, pornography, weed and materialism that once controlled my life.

How true it is: "And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh," EZEKIEL 11:19

Thank You Jesus for saving my soul!

Dear brother,

Thank you so much for sharing this in all its detail - and how the Lord is leading you now. I love the turn of phrase that 'Jesus still wanted my life and that I did not have to stay on the path I was on.'

Amen and amen! This is glorious!!! I am truly encouraged, as your testimony is very relevant for many today. Your words have challenged me, too, and I ought to come back here and post, when I've followed through with what the Lord has been putting in my heart (of which this testimony provides a provokation to action).

 Re:

I am saying this in love:

Just remember to keep trusting Christ for righteousness and not your flesh. Sometimes when we think God has given us a "special cleansing" or one-time event where total victory of sin is arrived, we can find ourselves resting in that experience to uphold us instead of God.

"Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." -1 Peter 1:5

A changed life is the most powerful testimony, and , as Ravenhill put it, this nation needs more demonstrations of the Gospel and less explainations.
