Men of the Revivals

Evan Roberts began to pray for revival when he was about thirteen years old.
He then prayed for thirteen years.
And there was the Welsh revival.

 Re: Men of the Revivals

I enjoyed great sweetness in communion with my dear Saviour. I think I never in my life felt such an entire weanedness from this world and so much resigned to God in everything. Oh, that I may always live to God.
David Brainerd, 1740

How did they go about it??
How did they attain to that goal which we label revival??

Bear not a single care thyself,
One is too much for thee:
The work is Mine, and Mine alone;
Thy work – to rest in me

Lars, thank you very much for sharing this, isn't it so true. What words of peace that come from the Holy Spirit, stop being anxious oh my soul. Put your cares on Jesus! Let us strive with all of His power that works so mightly in us.

Above all he excelled in prayer. The inwardness and weight of his spirit, the reverence and solemnity of his address and behavior, and the fewness and fullness of his words have often struck even strangers with admiration as they used to reach others with consolation.
The most awful, living, reverend frame I ever felt or beheld, I must say, was his prayer. And truly it was a testimony. He knew and lived nearer to the Lord than other men, for they that know him most will see most reason to approach him with reverence and fear.

William Penn of George Fox

"All prayer is hidden. It is behind a closed door. The best spade diggers go down into deep ditches out of sight. There are numbers of surface workers, but few who in self-obliteration toil alone with God."

Seth Joshua

It seems God can only get a man who has nothing but Heaven to live for to do the work for which a strong man is needed.
