2 Cor. 8:9 –
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.

Lyrics:

Thou who was rich beyond all splendor,
All for love’s sake becamest poor;
Thrones for a manger didst surrender,
Sapphire paved courts for stable floor.
Thou who was rich beyond all splendor,
All for love’s sake becamest poor.

Thou who art God beyond all praising,
All for love’s sake becamest Man;
Stooping so low, but sinners raising
Heavenward by Thine eternal plan.
Thou who art God beyond all praising,
All for love’s sake becamest Man.

Thou who art love beyond all telling,
Savior and King, we worship Thee.
Emmanuel, within us dwelling
Make us what Thou wouldst have us be.
Thou who art love beyond all telling
Savior and King, we worship Thee.

Lyrics written by Frank Houghton, Editorial Secretary of the China Inland Mission, when he was travelling over the mountains in Sichuan (Szechwan) while visiting various missionary outposts in China, after the martyrdom of John and Betty Stam in Anhui (formerly romanized as Anhwei) in 1934.

The Stams and so many others who gave their lives to share the gospel are testimonies of the sacrificial love of Christ that surpasses knowledge.
