 Pride

Uzziah, King of Judah, in 2 Chronicles 26 failed to remember that ALL he accomplished had been with the help of God. His success was evident, and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosperous in so many ways. But when he was strong his heart was lifted up to his destruction, Pride, led him into the sin of presumption.

When Uzziah sought God, and did what was right in the sight of the Lord, He rebuild towns, he restored, he broke down walls, built new towns built fortified towers in Jerusalem, he constructed forts in the wilderness, dug many wells, had great herds and livestock, many workers, and well trained warriors prepared to assist the King. He built structures on the walls designed by experts. Uzziah, provided for the entire army shields, spears, helmets etc.

Uzziah, sought God, feared God and sought God for guidance, and God gave him marvellous help and blessing, becoming a very powerful man.

Uzziah, fame spread far and wide, annual tribute given to him.

Let’s reflect how Paul and Barnabas acted when thought to be gods in human form, after the crowd saw how God used Paul to heal a man, they preparing to offer sacrifices to the apostles.

In Acts 14 Paul and Barnabas, tore their clothing shouting why are you doing this? We are merely human beings - just like you! We have come to bring you good News, that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God who made Heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. I love that, Paul, brought them to reality and remembrance how great our God is, creator of all things, and was well aware that man is nothing. Gal 6:3

In Act 10:24-26
When Cornelius met Peter, he fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. Peter took him up, saying, Stand up, I myself also am a man.

But when Uzziah, became powerful he also became proud, which led to his downfall, presumption set in, and he sinned against the Lord his God by entering the sanctuary of the Lord’s Temple and personally burning incense on the incense alter the work of the priest alone, the descendants of Aaron who were set apart for this work.

The high priest went in after him along with eighty other brave men and forewarned him, it is not for you to burn incense to the Lord, Get out of the sanctuary, for you have sinned, the Lord God will not honour you for this! but Uzziah, became furious and while standing in the Lords Temple leprosy suddenly broke out on his forehead the priest saw the leprosy, they rushed him out of the Temple Uzziah himself was eager to get out because the Lord had struck him. So the King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died. He lived in isolation in a separate house for he was excluded from the Temple of the Lord, and his son was put in charge of the royal palace, and he governed the people of the land. So before you eat grass Dan 4 or become infected with worms Acts 12:23 Give the glory to God do to His name.
