Re: Sound Abuse

Brother,

I believe music affects us all, and I also believe that Satan uses music to especially ensnare some.

My dear brother has for years been snared by music, filthy music, that is everything anti-Christ and vile. I believe there are spirits attached to that music that tormented him, and made the music very addictive. That war raged for years, but praise the Lord, my brother is coming back to God again!

I recently found a few of his old CDs from a long time ago and, let's just say I put my foot down on it, literally!

God bless, brother
-Eli

Amen, brother. This is a sure sign of Christ in you, when the old sins and habits become bitter to your soul. You are a new creation, brother, and you now desire the Water of Life that only Jesus can provide! (Psalm 42:1, John 4:10) Be encouraged, and thank God for that hunger and thirsting after righteousness, for you SHALL be filled!

Praying for you,
-Eli

Do you think He participated in their sin? He was there to help them, not join them.

 staying free from defilement

I believe that we need to protect ourselves from music that damages our ears and our emotional well-being, or defiles our spirit. However, in our zeal to avoid exposure to "sinful music", we risk being hypocritical.

I will try to explain by sharing a personal experience of a parallel issue. It is not about music as such, but relates nevertheless:

Wile touring through Amsterdam my husband and I got lost, and ended up in the infamous Red Light District. God surprised me after my time there. Here is a section of a larger article:

"Throughout the District there were many little shops with storefronts that displayed articles related to the business of prostitution, such as pornographic movies and much more. I tried to look away from all these things because I didn't want my mind to be defiled. However, it was difficult to keep this up, because items or pictures or something else seemed to show up everywhere.

While traveling back to our hotel, I felt as if my mind and spirit had been invaded by all that stuff. I thought that I needed a good spiritual bath in order to get rid of it. When we returned to our room, I told my husband that I needed some time to be alone with the Lord so that He could clean me up.

However, God did not respond in the manner that I had expected. He gave me the verse, Romans 2:1 which says,

"At whatever point you judge the other,
you are condemning yourself,
because you who pass judgment DO THE SAME THINGS."

At first this didn't seem to be an appropriate verse for me, so I asked the Lord to please give me the correct one. He clearly indicated that this was indeed the correct Scripture. I could not escape from it. At first I could not understand what God was saying to me, because the verse didn't seem to apply to me. After all, I had been raised in a Christian environment and had never departed from the "straight and narrow". In no way could I identify with the depth of depravity that existed in the Red Light District. I didn't get it. What was God trying to say to me?

I was indeed about to get a spiritual "bath", but not the kind that I had expected. I did not need to be cleansed from the sins of the Red Light District because they were not my sins. I needed to be cleaned up of my own sins.

That night God hung a red light over me, and the Holy Spirit shone into many dark corners of my heart. Suddenly, by divine enlightenment, I could see many of my own hypocritical offenses that, in God's eyes, were just as bad as the sins of the prostitutes."

If you are interested in more of the spiritual lessons I learned, you can see it here:

 Re: staying free from defilement

I personally believe it is possible to stay pure in such enviroments what I disagree with is the influx of it on our lives is more great showing us how desperatly sinful we are !!! I believe it is more wiser to say that it exists in our souls if we completly disregard are culture we are stupid but knowing it is there in our hearts we can do something about it.
I believe we are all hypocrites to some degree and probably me the worst kind!! The biggest mess , the chief of sinners.
I think it shows that we love jesus I think it makes us more compassionate to the lost!! because we know we are lost!!!
but not to make any judgement at all is stupid because if we do not if nothing hits our souls and brings us to our knees !! God judgement is good!!! it is his mercy if he does not judge us!! I would be upset!!! Does not the god of justice do right if someone would go and help those poor ladies that may help them!!
His love permiating through every layer of society I guess it does not make me angry but more compassionate what are we listening to , how does it affect us !! If by his word god created the world and people are beinding words to use them for there own means!! I have been in places like that but i get a deep desire to spend time with god because I know he can clense me !! O god help me!!!
The thing with music is that it is all around in every store from the small town store to the big store it is something we cannot miss !! I had to work in a store and was so grateful for my praise and worship cds after it!! I think filth and mess are going to get more and more common place it is dealing with and repenting more and more of our own sins!!!
I pray that the love of god will hit my own soul, we can never stop the evil because it show the true extent of evil in this culture !! The thing we can do is repent!!
I think a pure and holy concuis is what I am after
one which is and cannot be marred by the influx of this worlds evil and that trusts in god to get rid of my sin!! I do not have answers I just count the times where I can spend time praising god more precious to my soul!!

Romans 1: 1 - 32 - Study This Chapter

1 From: Sha'ul, a slave of the Messiah Yeshua, an emissary because I was called and set apart for the Good News of God. 2 God promised this Good News in advance through his prophets in the Tanakh. 3 It concerns his Son - he is descended from David physically; 4 he was powerfully demonstrated to be Son of God spiritually, set apart by his having been resurrected from the dead; he is Yeshua the Messiah, our Lord. 5 Through him we received grace and were given the work of being an emissary on his behalf promoting trust-grounded obedience among all the Gentiles, 6 including you, who have been called by Yeshua the Messiah. 7 To: All those in Rome whom God loves, who have been called, who have been set apart for him: Grace to you and shalom from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

8 First, I thank my God through Yeshua the Messiah for all of you, because the report of your trust is spreading throughout the whole world. 9 For God, whom I serve in my spirit by spreading the Good News about his Son, is my witness that I regularly remember you 10 in my prayers; and I always pray that somehow, now or in the future, I might, by God's will, succeed in coming to visit you. 11 For I long to see you, so that I might share with you some spiritual gift that can make you stronger - 12 or, to put it another way, so that by my being with you, we might, through the faith we share, encourage one another. 13 Brothers, I want you to know that although I have been prevented from visiting you until now, I have often planned to do so, in order that I might have some fruit among you, just as I have among the other Gentiles. 14 I owe a debt to both civilized Greeks and uncivilized people, to both the educated and the ignorant; 15 therefore I am eager to proclaim the Good News also to you who live in Rome.

16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News, since it is God's powerful means of bringing salvation to everyone who keeps on trusting, to the Jew especially, but equally to the Gentile. 17 For in it is revealed how God makes people righteous in his sight; and from beginning to end it is through trust - as the Tanakh puts it, "But the person who is righteous will live his life by trust." 18 What is revealed is God's anger from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people who in their wickedness keep suppressing the truth;

19 because what is known about God is plain to them, since God has made it plain to them. 20 For ever since the creation of the universe his invisible qualities - both his eternal power and his divine nature - have been clearly seen, because they can be understood from what he has made. Therefore, they have no excuse; 21 because, although they know who God is, they do not glorify him as God or thank him. On the contrary, they have become futile in their thinking; and their undiscerning hearts have become darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they have become fools! 23 In fact, they have exchanged the glory of the immortal God for mere images, like a mortal human being, or like birds, animals or reptiles! 24 This is why God has given them up to the vileness of their hearts' lusts, to the shameful misuse of each other's bodies. 25 They have exchanged the truth of God for falsehood, by worshipping and serving created things, rather than the Creator - praised be he for ever. Amen. 26 This is why God has given them up to degrading passions; so that their women exchange natural sexual relations for unnatural; 27 and likewise the men, giving up natural relations with the opposite sex, burn with passion for one another, men committing shameful acts with other men and receiving in their own persons the penalty appropriate to their perversion. 28 In other words, since they have not considered God worth knowing, God has given them up to worthless ways of thinking; so that they do improper things. 29 They are filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and vice; stuffed with jealousy, murder, quarrelling, dishonesty and ill-will; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God; they are insolent, arrogant and boastful; they plan evil schemes; they disobey their parents; 31 they are brainless, faithless, heartless and ruthless. 32 They know well enough God's righteous decree that people who do such things deserve to die; yet not only do they keep doing them, but they applaud others who do the same.

i hate quoting abit of romans as it should not be quoted in part because it was never meant to be read that way!!

praise god and rejoice in the god of our salvation check out verse 21!! I need jesus !! I want to be pure !!
