The Prophet,The Priest,The King
"And The Word Was Made Flesh And Dwelt Among Us"(John 1:14)
In the O.T. there are 3 anointed offices that God used in His relationship with Israel,The Prophet,The Priest, and The King and they were all types of Christ.
The Gospels (Matthew,Mark,Luke and John) center in Jesus Christ's three-fold ministry as Prophet,Priest and King.
As Prophet: (whose ministry was both telling-forth the message of God and the foretelling of the future works of God),He came in fulfillment of (Deuteronomy 18:15-19).He was not only a voice for God as the O.T. prophet but He,being God the Son,was the voice of God Himself.(Hebrews 1:1-2).
"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds."(Hebrews 1:1-2)
He told-forth the message for His days in the flesh and fore-told of the new age when the Messiah would be ruling on the earth.(The kingdom of Heaven Matthew chapter 13) and of His Second Advent (His Glorious Appearance) with the events that revolve around it.(Matthew Chapters 24 and 25)
As Priest: He became both the Sacrifice and Sacrificer as He died at Calvary to "take away the sin of the world"and through His Resurrection,"He ever liveth to make intercession."(Hebrews 9:14;7:24-25)
As King: He was born to the Davidic Throne (Luke 1:30-33),announced by John the Baptist (Matthew 3:2) rejected by His people (John 1:11)but will reign as King at His second Advent, fulfilling the Davidic Covenant. (2nd Samuel 7:8-16,Acts 15:13-18,Revelation 19:15-16)
During the time Jesus was with Pilate and Herod before His crucifixion they wanted Him to be a king but that wasn't His role yet.Even on the cross the people were telling Him to come off the cross and be a king.He could have called angels to help Him, but that would be a king mustering his army.
I believe just after the rapture and the first scene in Heaven (Revelation Chapters 4 and 5)we will be given the privilege of seeing the Lamb as it was slain begin to change His role into King as He receives the 7 seal scroll and He begins to take this world back to Himself during the 7 year tribulation and then come back as King of Kings. PRAISE THE LORD
“Do not weep. Behold, the LION of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”
And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a LAMB (Revelation 5:5,6)(My emphasis)
The LAMB becomes a LION as the kinsman redeemer receives the title deed and begins the process of redeeming this earth back to Himself. The LAMB our redeemer begins to change His role from a meek and lowly LAMB to His role as the LION of the tribe of Judah, from His role as Priest to that of the King.
And sadly about the same time back on earth,Israel will be signing a treaty with the antichrist to what they think will secure them a peace and a portion of land and permission to build a temple.Little will they know that when they sign that treaty, what is about to happen to this earth and it's inhabitants as the LAMB takes on the role as LION.
As Prophet He tells of this time to come and it will.
As Priest He is interceding for us in Heaven now at the right hand of the Father awaiting for the moment to come for His Church.(Perhaps Today)
As King He will rule this earth when He returns in His Glory and we return with Him.
"Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:
KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS."(Revelation 19:11-16)
