 Re:

Thx Tim.

Whose side are American Jewish people on in regard to the two state solution in Israel? Do they care, in general?

But does anyone not see that this presidential election is a judgment of God? We are getting what we deserve. I mean when you look at the choices of either DT or HC. Maybe even BO continuing in office.

Let's just say I wish the ballot could be marked none of the above.

But could it be that God is showing us the futility of trusting in the political system. And driving us to the cross. Driving us to seek him.

Just simply my thoughts.

 Re:

Yes bear but you are making assumptions.

What if Trump is the best president since Lincoln? We know Hillary won't be 😖

 Re:

Bear, I hear you. My view of human government is way more jaundiced than that. All human government including ours is one long irredeemable rebellion.

I've compared political choices as hitting a wall going 150 mph or hitting a wall going 120 mph. Christians are not controlled by the driver, are not jeopardized by the speed and are not stopped by the wall. Our problem is we love the car.

We deserve Donald Clinton and Hillary Trump (joke intended) insofar as democracy is concerned because Americans love corruption. Even the church in America loves corruption as demonstrated in its soul-selling admission to the tables of power (and the show we paid to see is just about over). Of course, God does judge that. We've no reason to consider America, ourselves as Christians, or the times we occupy as anything worthy of God's admiration.

Will the POTUS continue in office? Nah. I keep hearing people say that and it just --- nah.

I wish we'd ALL repent of the whole affair, right down to our heart level, and say, "We have one king, Jesus, and one nation, the Church of Jesus Christ, and one rule, His Word, and to no other do we owe any debt but to love."

Blaine "But could it be that God is showing us the futility of trusting in the political system. "

I think you may be right, I mean wasn't the nation of Israel looking for a political fix when Jesus came on the scene? They wanted freedom from the Romans and Jesus offered them freedom from sin and peace with God among many others things, I do believe you may be right here.

Brothers the bottom line with this presidential election is that we must trust in Jesus. And we must trust in Him alone. But only a few are going to hear that message. There will be many Christians who will flock after DT looking at him as their savior.

As usual these are my thoughts.

 Re:

Bear I think you are perhaps grossly overstating your case. I doubt that very many Christians would view DT as their "savior." Many will, however, view him as a better option than the alternative. These are two vastly different things.

 Re:

TMK, they are vastly different. Very true.

But, I do take exception with our collective Christian judgment of "better". Better implies goodness in the first place. We are not good. What we have is a measure of peace and order. But, even socialist England has that, and so does communist Russia. If we judge "better" by the system's toleration of Christianity, we are on a sliding scale. America would be in the top of that scale.

But, what if "better" is an environment where gospel truth, though rejected and not tolerated by the social order, is starkly contrasted with that order. If that is our scale, America is not better. In fact, I would offer that it makes us one of the most spiritually dark places on Earth right now.

We have another option. We can unplug our minds, our hearts, the grid through which our very thoughts flow, from this entire way of viewing the world and opt for the sole authority of the kingdom of God in Christ. We can and do subject ourselves to the belligerents who dominate this order, and we do so in love for them that they might hear and believe the gospel and be saved. But, our subjection stops right there, on a dime. We do not give one slice of our hearts or affections or allegiance to this order. In this view, and I think it the biblically proper one, none of the world's options are "better", but are realities which we bear and bear witness to them that their end is soon coming.

 Re:

I am not quite ready to abandon my vote in order to install what I feel to be the better option. I understand your disdain for the political process but I do not see it as sinful to vote for who I prayerfully view as the better candidate. I can only judge what is better based on the HS within me. What I cannot do is the irresponsible thing of not voting and thereby possibly allowing the worse option to be installed. That may make me a heathen but I have no strong conviction that it does.

God saw fit to have me born in the USA. I make no apologies for that nor do I ask any apologies from him. I like it here. I could have been born in a Calcutta ghetto where I never would have heard the gospel before starving to death at age 15.

So as long as it is legal for me to avail myself of the political process to vote freely I have a responsibility to do so.

I have to ask myself under which administration would the KOG be more likely to thrive. And that is the vote I must cast.

I see no reason why we cannot vote and he true Christians as well. I see no reason to leave all the votes to pagans.
