Re: BusinessWeek-Evangelical America (Big Business. Explosive Politics)

woops! Those articles I mentioned are only available online. The main article in the actual magazine is: Earthly Empires

This really stuck out me: "Some churches help develop complexes that include banks, pharmacies, schools, and even housing units". I hope this is not leading to a 'one world church' type thing.

Concerned, Chanin

 Re:

wow...i looked through some of those and read about creflo dollar...his 3 rolls royces (not to mention, his gulf stream jet...)

there are no words. just tears. oh, people just use our Lord as a way to make their lives happy and "fulfilled."

where is keith green when we need him?

"Oh Bless me Lord, bless me Lord, you know it's all I ever hear,
No one aches, no one hurts, no one even sheds one tear,
But He cries, He weeps, He bleeds, and He cares for your needs,
And you just lay back and keep soaking it in, oh, can't you see it's such sin?"

"The world is sleeping in the dark,
That the church can't fight, cause it's asleep in the light,
How can you be so dead, when you've been so well fed,
Jesus rose from the grave, and you, you can't even get out of bed,
Oh, Jesus rose from the dead, come on, get out of your bed..."

in Him,
arielle

Thanks for the heads-up Chanin.

I'm really really getting sick of the christian culture in america.

It all has NOTHING to do with Jesus.

 Re: Supersize Me!

After reading most of the articles, I agree Neil. (Not all bad...just mostly so...)One thing is clear...people want their pastors to be "pastorprenuers."

I wonder if the next step for American churches pastors is to recruit a talented secular management team or high-powered consultancy to run the organization. Peter Drucker would have made an excellent mega-church CEO. (Chief Evangelism Officer)

Some of the article titles were clever though. "Supersized Salvation" has a jingle to it. I'm curious...do other countries have celebrity cartoon characters like this Creflo Dollar fellow? If American religion has become a fast food industry...he must be it's Ronald McDonald.
