I wrote this poem the day my sister died a few months agoFor heaven's higher ground When my heart is overwhelmedAnd grief comes flooding inI lift my eyes to higher groundWhere there is no pain or sinYet deep within my heartAmidst the savage wavesThere is a calm reposeThat's with me all my daysI lift my eyes amidst this stormThat's raging all aroundHe lifts me up above the wavesTo stand on higher groundAnd in the light of gloryThat pierces every nightI catch a glimpse of majestyAnd what a glorious sightI see my sister dancing thereAmidst the saintly throngHands raised in heavenly splendorAnd singing a heavenly songThe night has passed, the dawn has brokeThere's no tears to be foundFor those who've left this world behindFor heavens higher ground.
