Pakistani Church Leadership

1 Corinthians 12:28, NET "And God has placed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, gifts of healing, helps, gifts of leadership and different kinds of tongues."
This list gives us an idea of what spiritual gifts are needed to make the body of Christ operate in a healthy manner. This is often an area where believers from more established churches can be of service. Missionaries working among unreached peoples need to help train and develop leaders, not lead themselves.
Pray for believers in the West to learn how to develop church leaders in a way that they will be able to help believers to start church planting movements.
Today's People Group
The world was shocked when 150 people, mainly children, were gunned down by Taliban militants at an army-run school in Peshawar, Pakistan. However, many of the local people felt that the killing was justified. Because of ongoing terrorist activity and Christian persecution, many foreign missionaries have felt compelled to leave Pakistan. Nevertheless, when the Christian Aid Mission’s South Asia director visited the country recently, he found the local workers were strong, faithful, and dedicated to spreading God’s Word. One of the local believers said, “We miss the missionaries; however, their leaving has pushed us to work harder for the Lord and to take on the responsibility.” The director stated, “Terrorist threats and social opposition in the 96-percent Muslim country is the least of the concerns of Pakistani Christians. Our people are really good at going out, preaching the gospel and sharing the good news; but they need help in leadership development. Many have had to keep the church underground and extend help to the new believers. It is hard, and they need to be encouraged.”
Pray that the Pakistani believers will be guided by the Holy Spirit and protected by the Lord. Pray that they will be kept strong in their passion to bring many Pakistani Muslims to the Lord. Pray that the horror of Islamic terrorism in Pakistan will bring many Pakistani Muslims to know that true peace is only found in Jesus.
