Unreached of the Day: Dongnu of China

Dongnu of China
The Dongnu inhabit a geographically widespread area across 15 counties in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and as far west as Funing County in southeastern Yunnan Province. The Dongnu live in an ethnically complex region. For centuries they have interacted with people from other minority groups, such as the Yao, Miao, and Zhuang. The religious belief system of the Dongnu contains elements of animism, Daoism, and ancestor worship. Ancestors are worshiped down to the fourth generation. It is primarily the job of the oldest son to take care of the ancestral altar. The Dongnu are without a single known church or Christian believer.

Ministry Obstacles
Their ethnic, geographic, and linguistic isolation has caused a barrier to the introduction of the gospel.

Outreach Ideas
Though the Dongnu are one of the largest people groups in China without a single known Christian in their midst, few outsiders have even heard of them. Pray God will lay this group on the hearts of those who will obey the call to take the gospel to them.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Even though there are no known followers of Jesus in this group today, please pray for those who will soon come to saving faith. They will need teachers to help them.

Pray for the entire people group
Please pray for a rising literacy rate for this people group, as well as for a rising standard of living.

Scripture Focus
"The Lord has bared His holy arm in the sight of all the nations, That all the ends of the earth may see The salvation of our God." Isaiah 52:10
