So awesome. The Lord knows how to keep men humble and get glory for himself. We should keep plowing and doing what is right, no matter what the impact is. God will accomplish his purposes.
"I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase." (1Corinthians 3:6) "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." (1Corinthians 15:58). Whatever we do in God's will and for God's glory has eternal consequences. Sometimes we can witness the fruit of our labors here in this life but other times we won't see the result until we are with the Lord in glory. This speaks to me paricularly in our prayers. We pray for a laborer doing the work of the Lord in another land, but sometimes we do not see the result, but our prayers are never in vain in the Lord.Mike
This reminds me a lot of the story of Mr. Jenner (sometimes spelled Genor). I first heard the story from the file "tochewon" found at fireonthealtar.com. Here is the wikipedia article:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Jenner
Wow, thank you so much for this post, it was a tremendous encouragement and reminder for me of what truly matters and the need for faith during the dark times.
