How to React in Times of Suffering

Rejoice

Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in
heaven. For in the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets.
Luke 6:23 (NASB)
So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing
that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.
Acts 5:41 (NASB)

Shining Face

And fixing their gaze on him, all who were sitting in the Council saw
his face like the face of an angel. Acts 6:15 (NASB)

Persevere

And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that
tribulation brings about perseverance; Romans 5:3 (NASB)

Consider Your loss well worthwhile

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy
to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans
8:18 (NASB)

Pray

Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer,
Romans 12:12 (NASB)

Do Good

Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the
sight of all men. Romans 12:17 (NASB)

Do Not Avenge

Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath
of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” says the
Lord. Romans 12:19 (NASB)

Do Not Murmur

Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer.
1 Corinthians 10:10 (NASB)

Do Not Despair

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but
not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not
destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NASB)

Be Content

Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses,
with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when
I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10 (NASB)

Take Joy

For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the
seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better
possession and a lasting one. Hebrews 10:34 (NASB)

Choose to Suffer

Choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than
to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, Hebrews 11:25 (NASB)

Esteem the Reproach

Considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of
Egypt; for he was looking to the reward. Hebrews 11:26 (NASB)

Look unto Jesus

Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for
the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and
has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him
who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you
will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:2-3 (NASB)

Revile Not

And while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering,
He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges
righteously; 1 Peter 2:23 (NASB)

Do Not Return Evil

Not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead;
for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit
a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9 (NASB)

Arm Yourself To Suffer

Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also
with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has
ceased from sin, 1 Peter 4:1 (NASB)
