Unreached of the Day: Dzala of Bhutan

Dzala of Bhutan
The Dzala people live in the highlands along the upper course of the Kholongchu River. This part of Bhutan is extremely poor. Visitors have said it is like stepping back to medieval times. Some Dzala refer to themselves as the Khoma people, and their language as Khomakha. Tibetan Buddhism has been followed by more than 1,300 years, entering Bhutan from Tibet. Visits from lamas and monks from Tibet, India and Nepal have maintained and strengthened Buddhism over the centuries. The people see their identity and culture as completely intertwined with Buddhism.

Ministry Obstacles
The identity of the Dzala people is bound tightly to their world view and religion, and they live in a remote region of the world.

Outreach Ideas
Stories from scripture can be quite effective in communication. The Holy Spirit always blesses the proclamation of scripture.

Pray for the followers of Christ
There are probably no followers of Jesus among the Dzala. Pray the Lord will send workers to take the good news of Jesus to the people.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray for an improved standard of living for these poor people. Pray for employment opportunities, and for good schools to be available for the children.

Scripture Focus
"He will have compassion on the poor and needy, And the lives of the needy He will save." Psalm 72:13
