Karo, Kerre of EthiopiaThe Karo live south of the Mursi on the left bank of the Omo River. They subsist through farming. They use the hoe to cultivate the land and rely on the Omo River for water. They also fish, especially in times of scarcity. They have a ceremony of jumping over lined cattle, similar to that of the Hamer. A young man who is able to jump over a large number of cattle proves that he is able to marry. They peacefully co-exist with their neighbors but at times get into conflict with the Mursi. They are followers of ethnic religions.Ministry ObstaclesNo scripture or other resources are available in the Karo language.Outreach IdeasPlease pray the small Karo tribe will not be overlooked as Ethiopian Christians reach out to the unreached tribes in their country.Pray for the followers of ChristPlease pray for the few Karo individuals who identify themselves as Christians, that they will learn to be joyful always, praying continually, and giving thanks in all circumstances.Pray for the entire people groupPray for peaceful relations between the Karo and Mursi tribes, and for enough rainfall for the crops and herds of the Karo.Scripture Focus"This gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14
