More on Wolfs in sheep clothing

Romans 16:17-18 I urge you, brothers to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.
For such people are not serving our Lord Christ but their own….. appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they ….deceive…. the mind of…. naive…. people.

appetites. ( feeling craving, wants )

deceive ( underhandedness to be false to cause to accept as true. mislead, suck in, lead one down the garden path.
pull the wool over one’s eyes deceiving so throughly as to obscure the truth. charm and persuasion be dishonest with.

Naive……..( inexperienced, innocent, unsuspecting.

Flattery…..The act of giving excessive compliment, generally for the purpose of ingratiation oneself with the subject, excessive praise, charming her

2 Corinthians 11:13
For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, …..masquerading as apostles of Christ…. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
It is not surprising , then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

deceitful workmen …..appear to be righteous These people disguise themselves as apostles of Christ and servants of righteousness. They imitate genuine ministers of Christ, putting into their message every available form of godliness. All believers must beware of these misleading ministers and leaders and not be deceived by their charisma.

Matthew 7:15
Watch out for false prophets They come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly they are ….ferocious wolves. …… By their fruit you will recognize them.
outwardly appear righteous but inwardly ….are ferocious wolves.

The fruit of false teachers will be unwholesome characteristics.
They will be more concerned with their own desires than with God’s glory and honor. self-centered rather then God centered.

Matthew 23:27
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisess, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which…..look beautiful….. on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean….. In the same way, on the outside …..you appear…. to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of…. hypocrisy and wickedness.

Outwardly appeared righteous in their religious performance but unrighteous in their personal lives.
Jesus describes the character of hypocritical religious leaders and teachers as those who seek to be popular, important and notices by others, who love honor, and titles.
Appear spiritual and godly, but are really unrighteous. They come in sheep’s clothing. full of hypocrisy and wickedness. Instruments of Satan while disguising themselves as ministers of righteousness using their ability and charisma.

Discern character * 2 Tim 3:1-9 *

Do they show a sincere and pure devotion to God ?
Do they manifest the fruit of the Spirit.
Love sinners
hate wickedness and love righteousness
cry out against sin
honor Christ
Integrity
Lead the church into sanctification

May God expose those for what they are, a wolf in sheep clothing
