 Not appointed to Wrath

Many today search the Greek and understand the various types of Love and where those words are used, an example is AGAPE, we in our English use simply the Love word but in Greek there are various types of Love, God Loves us with an AGAPE Love.
It is the same in Greek for the Word Wrath, many group this one English word Wrath together as if all the same but they are not, many have stated the following verse but have never truly studied it and understand the depth of this verse.

1Th 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
1Th 5:10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
1Th 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Have you noticed that Paul ties in with verse 7 Regarding our salvation the subject of whether we wake or sleep we should live together with Him. This promise is to us whether we are dead or whether we are alive.

This Wrath word becomes more clear when you look at it in the Greek and especially where this word is used in the Book of revelation.

1Th 5:9 ForG3754 GodG2316 hath notG3756 appointedG5087 usG2248 toG1519 wrath,G3709 butG235 to obtainG1519 G4047 salvationG4991 byG1223 ourG2257 LordG2962 JesusG2424 Christ,G5547

Wrath in the strongs is G3709
G3709
ὀργή
orgē
or-gay'
From G3713; properly desire (as a reaching forth or excitement of the mind), that is, (by analogy) violent passion (ire, or [justifiable] abhorrence); by implication punishment: - anger, indignation, vengeance, wrath.

This special greek word is only found in 6 very specific places in the Book of Revelations

Rev 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
Rev 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
Rev 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
Rev 16:19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
Rev 16:20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Rev 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Have you noticed where this particular word is used, it is used in relation to when Jesus the Lamb of God comes to the Earth, He tramples the winepress of the Wrath.

This happens when Christ returns, at the first Resurrection that takes place by the means of the Rapture.

Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

So Jesus promise is true, we are not appointed to Gods Wrath on that day, but to Salvation whether we are dead or alive we will live together with Jesus Christ.

Do you know that the Hebrew word for salvation in the old testament is Yeshua, and Yeshua, {Jesus} who is our saviour will be our Salvation on that Day.

Praise God His word is True, trust in him today, do not harden your hearts.

His promises are true, He is our Blessed Hope.

But hang on this promise is also to those that are dead in Christ, what are the dead saved from?

The answer to this is also a promise found in Revelations

Rev_2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
Rev_20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

So what is this second death that we who are dead or alive are also saved from and do not have to fear?

Rev_20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev_21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Praise Jesus Christ, His Word is True, His Promise is True, We obtain Salvation not Wrath, know let us read the promise again

Halleluha, as Paul says let us strive to be found in that Resurrection of the Just on the Day of our Lord Jesus Christ return and not just for ourselves but let us strive to encourage others to be standing in that day.

 Re: Not appointed to Wrath

You don't have to go into the Greek to understand that we are not appointed to hell and judgement which is God's wrath.

However, we are promised persecution, which is usually from those under the wrath of God.

My Reply So true, but it does make it more clearer, and it certainly glorifies Gods Word, I was using it to more clearly reveal the Promise that we are not appointed to Wrath but to obtain Salvation and how the promise applies in Revelation,His Word is so powerful and true, scripture interprets scripture, yes may we never ever forget the many sufferings that believers in the past and present have gone through and are still going through and yet still more to come.

Rev_6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
When you look at that specific Wrath word used in Thessalonians and the promise it is True, for those that have died in Christ they are not appointed to Gods Wrath on the Day of Judgement at the end of the 1000 year reign, as they are already judged and found innocent in the Blood of Christ and will be in the 1st resurrection, for those that are living on the earth at the coming of Christ and that are under the blood of Christ they also will be delivered in that same 1st Resurrection and will not be on earth when Jesus tramples the winepress of the wrath of God.
The words of Christ are true we do obtain salvation and not the wrath.
