Evangelical leader says commonality with Mormons deeper than differences

Borrowing an ancient Hebrew word from an Old Testament text, one of America’s leading evangelical Christian scholars told nearly 2,000 young Mormons at Utah Valley University Friday that his faith and their faith, often at odds with each other through the years over doctrinal disparities, “need to find ways we can work together” to find “shalom,” or peace.

“God has placed us in the world, in this nation, and calls us to seek the shalom together,” said Dr. Richard J. Mouw, president emeritus of the Fuller Theological Seminary and noted author of such books as “Uncommon Decency: Christian Civility in an Uncivil World.” ...

Re: Evangelical leader says commonality with Mormons deeper than differences

Greetings Greg

May I ask what is the LORD showing you concerning this? I can't help but think as the time grows near many will be deceived and led away by false teachings and doctrines. In the article it states that the Mormon belief is "close" or similar to what Christians teach...I can't help but wonder what GOD'S thoughts on that might be?

Thanks for sharing the article
God bless
mj

 Re:

Sister,

I see this as a tremendous compromise and near apostasy on the part of the evangelicals involved. Mormonism is a cult and it is impossible for mormons to go to heaven apart from repenting of their good works and false gospel and to believe in the true Son of God from heaven. They believe in a wrong gospel given by an angel.

Islam believes also a wrong message given by an angel.

Seventh-day Adventists preach the gospel of the 3 angels.

Galatians 1:8
New King James Version (NKJV)
8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

The increase in cults such as Mormonism sky-rockets just after the 1850's now thousands of million people cults exist around the world. Our Lord said this would happen.

Matthew 24:24
King James Version (KJV)
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

 Re:

This is also sending a wrong message to those who have left Mornonism and found Christ. This is also undermining those Christ centered ministries who are working to bring those out of LDS and bring them to Christ. And lastly it is telling the Mormons they are alright and going to heaven.

The evangelical church would do better to send missionaries to Utah and preach the uncompromised gospel of the death, burial, and resurrection if Jesus Christ. Mormons need to be told that Christ paid fir their sin debt and they can recieve His sacrifice by faith. They also need to be told the consequences of not receiving Christ. That this would be an eternity in hell.

This garbage coming out of the evangelical church is blatant heresy and leading Mormons into the pit of bell. In tbis the evangelical church is no better than the Mornon cult. And the evangelical church will be held accountable.

Bearmaster.
