The shortest distance between a problem and the solution is the distance between your knees and the floor.

 Re:

In the Irish Revival of 1859, people became so weak that they could not get back to their homes. Men and women would fall by the wayside and would be found hours later pleading with God to save their souls. They felt that they were slipping into hell and that nothing else in life mattered but to get right with God... To them eternity meant everything. Nothing else was of any consequence. They felt that if God did not have mercy on them and save them, they were doomed for all time to come.

 Re:

[God desires] not that He may say to them, "Look how mighty I am, and go down upon your knees and worship", for power alone was never yet worthy of prayer; but that He may say thus:
"Look, my children, you will never be strong but with my strength. I have no other to give you. And that you can get only by trusting in me. I can not give it you any other way.
There is no other way."
... George Macdonald (1824-1905),
Annals of a Quiet Neighborhood[1866]

It is no sin to doubt some things but it may be fatal to believe everything.

 Re:

You are leaving port under sealed orders and in a troubled period.
You cannot know whither you are going or what you are to do.
But why not take the Pilot on board who knows the nature of your sealed orders from the outset,
and who will shape your entire voyage accordingly?
He knows the shoals and the sandbanks, the rocks and the reefs,
He will steer you safely into that celestial harbor where your anchor will be cast for eternity.
Let His almighty nail-pierced hands hold the wheel, and you will be safe.

Re: Wycliff on understanding the scriptures

It shall greatly help you to understand Scripture
if thou mark not only what is spoken or written
 but of whom
 and to whom
 with what words
 at what time
 where
 to what intent
 with what circumstances
 considering what goeth before
 and what followeth.

John Wycliff 1330-1384

 Re:

Oh, If only once we could be convinced of God's goodness towards His children and of His desire to reveal Himself to them! We would no longer seek out own selfish desires. We would not be so quickly discouraged from pursuing what He is so long to give us:

Romans 8:32 (kjv) - He who spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not, with Him, also freely give us all things?

We only need alittle courage and perseverance. Actually, we have enough of both in our earthly affairs, but none at all in the only thing that really matters (Luke 10:42).
