This earthquake which struck the solomon Islands had the accompaniment effect ( as i pointed out recently in a post) of a tsunami along with it - and some lives were lost. The solomon islands is listed in the "ring of fire" zone and tsunami alerts were wide spread even as far as Japan and hawai. The last time the solomon islands "copped it" things were so severe the island was moved and pushed upwards from its foundations ( literally)Which incidentally was only some five years ago:How long will it be till whole islands - disappear of the face of the map??Wouldnt surprise if large chunks of land and whole Islands fall into the ocean and are sunk before the coming of the Lord !!!And every Island fled away...
My wife and I are moving to Indonesia for missions in July. We are excited about many things, but it is events like this that we are weary of. We pray over our excitement, as well as our fears. Our flesh often takes over sometimes and we think about Tsunamis and whatnot. He's got the whole world in His hands though.
Yes i hear you and your concerns. Its a very volatile region in terms of wild weather and natural disasters per se. However if you believe and are persuaded to fulfil this Call then Go! And the Lord be with you both! Claim psalm 91 and Gods divine providence in all things:That being said it needs to tempered with the things the early apostles encountered such as being forbidden by the holy ghost - to enter certain cities. The "why for" of not being allowed of God - to enter is not fully clear in scripture.Suffice to say it perhaps was to dangerous at the time. The early church as we know was a very persecuted church. Bottom line is dont let any any human emotions deter you or hold you back. But if the witness of the Spirit says Dont ...then Dont:Really hope this helps.Ive done missions in fiji and it too can be a bit dicey.
