A powerful earthquake 6.9 in moment magnitude strength struck north Japan on the Saturday just gone by 2/ 2/2013. The powerful tremours were felt by many as buildings in the region swayed and shook with force. There have been no reports of any MAJOR structural damage or any loss of human life. Ten people have been treated for minor injuries thus far:Furthermore another quake regestering s 5.5 magnitude also hit Japan in another region within 24 hours of the first siesmic activity recorded:Japan has been a veritable "hot spot" for poweful earthquakes recently with the 2011 quake with the accompanying tsunami) wreaking absolute havoc with some 19,000 lives taken and/or missing. Of course extensive damage to the infrastructure systems in place and to buildings as bad as it was - is nothing compared to the grieving familes that lost "loved ones"Also not so long ago eithet a 7 PLUS (MM) under sea quake was recorded close to Japan shore lines - but NO Tsunami was triggered from its activity!!
