"Pilgrim and Sojourner." - 1 Peter 2:11

Daily Readings with Basilea Schlink - July 12

You believe in Jesus and this makes you a child of God the Father. Yet you say that you are not happy. The reason is that you are looking for happiness in the wrong place. Joy lies hidden in the cross. If you want to taste this joy, adopt a new attitude towards your cross.

Accept it as a greeting from the Father, as a means of blessing. Expect your cross to bring you the happiness you desire. You will then experience the truth: Out of tears comes laughter; out of the cross comes joy.

"I am so deeply concerned that we should rise and shake of the grave clothes of dead denominational Christianity that lives on a dead tradition and runs like a track with the engine off while the momentum carries it on. I am concerned that we should enter the Christian life that we should be a people indwelt with the Holy Spirit, recognize ourselves as a minority group living in a world that hated our Lord and hates us for our Lord’s sake." - A.W. Tozer
