It's actually impossible for anyone to be saved in and of themselves. It is only possible in and through Christ. The Gospel is the announcement of the good news of the reconciling work of what God in Christ has already accomplished for us and in us. God Himself has placed us in union with Him. Now Christ gives us the ability to trust in Him and as we respond we truly obey Him. True obedience to the gospel, is our responding, embracing, participating daily in the union that God has already placed us in. The Gospel is the announcement of the grace and mercy and eternal love of God, the everlasting covenant of the reality of what Gods has already done. He has given us the ability to respond. He has removed our old totally corruptive heart and has replaced it with a pure new heart. Now our obedience to the truth of the Gospel is our walking in who Jesus is in Himself, our Savior, and who God is, the Savior God. We must see true obedience from a Christ-centered perspective and begin with who is Christ for us, who is Christ with God, who Christ is in us, and who Christ is as us. This will change your whole perspective of what it means to be "Christ like".1 Corinthians 1:30 New International Version (©1984)"It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption."New Living Translation (©2007)"God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; He made us pure and holy, and He freed us from sin."If you have not yet personally and subjectively been awakened to and embraced this divine fact then it may because you just have not seen or fully recognized that you are truly in union with Jesus. Now look at the Good News that God has placed you in perfect union with Him and ask God to show you what this really means in your life concerning Him.The reason for preaching the Gospel is that you might participate, might have fellowship with God, and receive all the benefits of everything God has already done for you. Ask God to open your eyes the EXCITING truth of what He has done.
Great truth here to feed on. Thanks for posting.Bear.
Praise God! May the Lord truly give us a revelation of what God has done in and through the finished work of Jesus Christ. may our eyes be opened to see the simplicity of the gospel, and that through the death of Jesus Christ the old nature has been crucified, and now we are joined with Him through His life, one Spirit with the Lord.Mike
