Here are some notes on my recent class today.
1. What is prime (ultimate) reality?
A. God is infinite and personal (triune), transcendent, immanent, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, sovereign, good, just, merciful, and gracious.
2. What is the nature of the cosmos?
B. God created His cosmos (ex nihilo) to operate with uniformity of cause and effect (influence and choice) in an open system.
3. What is man?
C. Man is created in the image of God and thus possesses personality, self-transcendence, self-transcendentalism, intelligence, morality, gregariousness, and creativity. Man was created good, but through the fall the image of God became defaced, thus taking man ruined and in need of restoration.
D. Truth is prepositional, absolute, and personal. God unties truth because He is the source of all things that are true.
5. What is the basis for morality?
E. Ethics is transcendent and is based on the character of God as good, holy, loving.
6. What happens after death?
F. For man, death is either the gate to life with God and His people, or the gate to eternal separation from the only thing that will fulfill him.
7. What is the meaning of history?
G. History is linear; a meaningful sequence of events leading to fulfillment of Gods purposes for man.
