This is a great quote, Greg!

BTW, have you ever thought of compiling all of these quotes into book form (or eBook form)?

I began to do this a few years ago. However, the "trade paperback" format (via both In Design and Word) with quotes and an index grew to nearly 600 pages.

Still, it would be great to see a eBook or bound collection of these wonderful quotes!

“Would weeping, would tears prevail on you, I could wish my head were waters, and my eyes fountains of tears, that I might weep out every argument, and melt you into love. Would any thing I could do or suffer, influence your hearts, I think I could bear to pluck out my eyes, or even to lay down my life for your sakes.” - George Whitefield

 Re: Great Quotes 14

I say no person has repented until he or she has brought himself or herself to feel he or she killed the Savior. I don’t believe any person has repented who would rather be happy than holy. We are living in the gloomiest age of the Church, and yet the Church is seeking happiness avidly, and not finding it, because she’s not looking for it in the right place. As long as a person would rather be happy than holy, he or she is an unrepentant man. As soon as this realization hits our conscience, we don’t care whether we are happy or not. We need to be hit with our conscience, smitten, wounded within, until contrition becomes a part of our life.

 Re: Great Quotes 14

In his (Paul’s) epistles, there are references, how he was the least of all Christians and the worst of all apostles, because of his sins. In this happy, happy age – this age of cheap, infantile giggling, we want to get repentance over with so we can have fun. Oh, my God, wound us; wound us with the wound of contrition so we’ll never quite get over it, so we always will carry around with us the knowledge that we’ve been sinners and never forget that we’ve been sinners.
