On July 30, 2011, Iranian security agents burst through the door of Leila Mohammadis home and arrested the terrified woman. Leila was then thrown into a police car and driven to Irans notorious Evin Prison. Why? What was Leilas crime? Unfortunately, Leila is a Christian convert living in a fundamentalist, Islamic country--a country where Christians are treated as second-class citizens. Leilas case was finally brought to trial on January 18, 2012, where she was charged with the following: (1) anti-Islamic propaganda, (2) deceiving citizens by formation of what is called a house church, (3) insulting sacred figures, and (4) actions against national security. The judge of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran sentenced Leila Mohammadi to two years in prison. http://www.persecution.org/2012/02/01/iranian-christian-convert-sentenced-to-two-years-in-prison/ Pray that Leila Mohammadis conviction is successfully appealed.Pray that the government in Iran enacts laws to protect its Christian citizens. Pray that the Lord places a hedge of protection around Irans Christian citizens.
