"But you, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the Book until the time of the end. [Then] many shall run to and fro and search anxiously [through the Book], and knowledge [of God's purposes are revealed by His prophets] shall be increased and become great. (Daniel 9:4 - Amplified Bible)The people who worked on the Amplified Bible put thousands and thousands of hours into their work. They had a different take than the usual way the verse is seen to mean that knowledge of all sorts (scientific, medical, technical) shall be increased at the time of the end. The Amplified translators saw the verse as relating to knowledge of the prophets and what they revealed of God's plan at the end of the age as being greatly increased because people will be anxiously and diligently seeking out what the prophets had to say in the Book regarding the end. And maybe especially Daniel's book. Which seems in my opinion to be much more in line with the context of the whole book of Daniel and this particular chapter. I don't any problem with the way they rendered this verse. To lay into and search the prophetic books as never before for their insight regarding the end of the age. Not a bad idea.Blessings,"Doc"
