For what purpose did and does the "order of Melchizedek" exist?

To point to and affirm the eternal priesthood of the incarnate Christ, Jesus The Son of God, born of a virgin by the eternal Seed of God. Not to be a reincarnation of Melchizedek.

I'll ask the same question in a different way...

What does the "order of Melchizedec" accomplish in God's creation?

 Re:

People like to use Hebrews 7 for evidence of tithing in the New Covenant. Actually, Hebrews 7 has nothing to do with tithing in the New Covenant. Tithing is only mentioned as part of a comparison between the Melchizedek and the Levitical priesthood to show us how far superior a priest Jesus is.

The book of Hebrews proclaims the superiority of the New Covenant. It says we have a better hope (7:19), better covenant (7:22)(8:6), better promises (8:6), better sacrifices (9:23), better substance (10:34), better country (11:16), better resurrection (11:35), and better outcome of our faith (11:40).

It shows that Jesus has a better name (1:4) and better blood (12:24), and that we now have a better cleansing of sin, a better conscience (9:14), and a better relationship with God, entering the true holy place in the heavenly realm.

This is what Hebrews 7 is all about! Showing us by tying into all the other "better" verses, that we do indeed have a far better (superior) Priest in Jesus Christ.

To show that all mankind needs a Savior, even Melchizedec and Abraham.

Ephesians 1:17-23 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

As shown by God choosing His offspring to be in Christ even before he created a single man.

Ephesians 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

As in Adam all die, but all those in Christ shall live.

1 Corinthians 15:46-58 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

All this comes about because Melchizedec could not accomplish God's plan of Having His own offspring which are from Heaven, not earthly.

1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

This, Melchizedec did not do and shed no blood, even when God told Abraham that in his seed shall all God has chosen be made alive.

Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. "The Last Adam". Who is the Most High God Himself, as The Father.

I won't say, "I am made alive in Melchizedec".

I can say, I know, "I live in Christ": Phillip

Yes these attributes outline the work of God done through the "order of Melchizedec."

In the following description of who Melchizedec was....

Hbr 7:3 without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.

What does it mean when the Scripture says that Melchizedec "remains a priest continually"?

That he, "Melchizedec" is a forshadowing of our Heavenly High Priest, Jesus Christ who will be our High Priest until He turns all things including the Body of Christ, full and complete, His Church, to the Father who is All and in All.
Our High Priest will remain in our hearts forever.

God chose this Melchizedec with no record of beginning or end to be in like forshadowing of who Jesus Christ would become to His Body the Church, and as scripture says in the 1000 year reign of Christ on this earth with all true Israel will, through Him will be saved.

This Jesus Christ of whom we have record of His birth, death and resurrection, of which power we are rebirthed, died to sin and seated with Christ in the Heavenlies.

Melchizedec is just a tiny picture of who our Lord and Savior and Life in Jesus Christ comes to be in the Life of those God has given to Him, in whom we live and abide forever.

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

1 John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

Where does the priesthood of Melchizedec hold a candle to the PriestHood of the Son of God, who loved us and gave His life for us that we might be called the son's of God in Him.

In Him: Phillip

Dear Saints,

Due to the length of this forum we as the moderators feel it should be closed. In most cases we try and keep forum threads to 20-30 pages at the most and this one is at 59 pages!

We trust there have been mostly profitable things shared and discussed. For the most current topic being discussed that could be translated to a new thread title that would be helpful!

This thread is now locked.
