 Re:

God must convict us of sin, all sin. Satan asked Eve, "Is that what God really said?".... Did God tell us to repent of all sin and forsake it and then He will be faithful to forgive us. Yes. How can a HOLY GOD NOT convict a Christian of such sinful music and t.v. programs? A different conviction? Does our God convict one person of this sin and another person of that sin? Our most merciful Jesus through His Holy Spirit convicts of all sin in every child that belongs to Him. We can still choose to do what we want because we like it not because that small little voice says nothing about it, we just do not want to hear it. We like it... Whats the 1ST commandment? Yes, we are in the world but not part of the world.

 Re:

You are right. "God must convict of sin". So, what's the problem?

I know some Christians who think having a TV is a sin or having a radio is a sin, or having a computer and an Internet connection is a sin, etc., etc., ad nauseum. Debrabutts, you are already a sinner to them because you have an Internet connection. So, who makes the rules?

Is this GOD? Maybe for you, maybe not for me. Depends on many factors in your life and mine and our relationship and liberty in the Lord.

"We can still choose to do what we want". True and God will let us know one way or another if we are grieving Him. It could be a still small voice or a great big hammer. It's always our choice, right?

Behold the goodness and severity of God...

We must leave room for God the Holy Spirit to lead His people and deal with them when the need arises.

1Co 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or WHATSOEVER ye do, DO ALL to the GLORY OF GOD.

 Re:

Just listened to it. Great story and I liked the music. I promise I did not sin in my heart.

 Re:

Is there a war cry in your spirit? If you are born again, that cry is within you, even if it has been muted by lethargy.

We will never succeed as overcomers without carrying in our spirits the war cry of God. We must stop resisting the call to prayer; we must embrace the reality of spiritual warfare; and we must fight with the weapons of warfare that God has given us, both for our own progress and also on behalf of those we love.

 Re:

Debra, you are right in that God must convict and will convict of sin. However, He often does not do this all at once. Let's say, for arguments sake, that you are right and rock music is, in and of itself, sinful. What you are doing is being harsh to brothers and sisters who perhaps are not as far along in their walk as you are. Is God not capable of doing the convicting or must He rely on you?

We are to love the Lord our God with all of our heart mind soul and strength and love our neighbors as ourselves. What you are doing, whether on purpose or not I have no idea, is telling all who would listen to rock music that we do not love God. You have no idea what each of our story is, where God has brought us and where He is taking us. You assume that we have not sought the Lord on a host of issues. You assume too much, again.

I can surely respect your beliefs on the issue. Who am I to question what God has convicted you of, or where you've been that leads to your convictions (not the spiritual kind)? However, you go too far to suggest that the only thing that gives my life meaning is not my Father, that I have not been bought with a price.

I understand shining what you feel is the Light on a subject. Still, we must shine a light and not throw stones.

 Re:

No, listening to Bro. Claude is not a sin at all. He is praising God. I am not at all talking about this type of music.

I would have to say that if they are not convicted then to them it's not a sin; it's not for you or me (we are NOT the Holy Spirit) to convict them.

I would like to know if listening to ole time rock and roll is a sin. Is listening to your radio with rock music playing on it a sin?

So after reading this whole thread, I'm seeing that you had your mind made up when you asked this question??? Shame on you. Dear sister, I think deception (setting people up), is worse than listening to oldies any day of the week.

I've been converted 33 years and my listening desires have changed immensely over the years but I cannot put my walk with the Lord (what He has shown me (for me)) onto someone who is new (or even old) in the Lord.

And more importantly, He doesn't change me or show me something to make me feel 'proud' that I'm doing it when other people aren't. The Law does that, not Jesus Christ.

Sister, I hope that you would choose to love other's who are struggling to let go of this world instead of beating them with the word of God.

Forgive me if I'm wrong and God bless you,
Lisa

 Re:

It is a good thing to wake the church out of her slumber. False security and unrecognized and unrepentant sin lulls us to sleep spiritually. Compromise with the enemy through rationalizing and self-justification renders us unable to discern the Lord's voice from the "Angel of Light".

We should fear the Lord and not flirt with sin. "Little" sins aren't little. They bite and sting BIG.

Amen! Sister, lot of Christians want us all to be like them, if that was the way God wanted it, he sure would not have needed as many of us.
