No one knows when the great day will be, not the angels, not even the Son, at least in the days of His incarnation, Matthew 24.36, Acts 1.7, but we do know two things:what will happen, andhow to be ready. What will happen? There are a lot of schedules taught in Christendom about the last things. So, to simplify the matter, lets only take the one Greek word parousia, translated coming. At the parousia, Christ will be revealed the revelation.2Thes 2:1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord2Thes 1:7
when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fireAt the parousia, Christ will raise the dead the resurrection.1Thes 4:15
we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.1Thes 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.See also: 1Cor 15.22,23At the parousia, Christ will catch up the believers who are then alive the rapture.1Thes 4:15
we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.1Thes 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.See also: 1Cor 15.52At the parousia, Christ will gather to Himself all believers of all times.2Thes 2:1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him1Thes 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.At the parousia, Christ will judge it will be the judgment day.2Thes 2:1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,2Thes 1:8, 9 dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His powerAt the parousia, Christ will destroy everything souls and bodies of unbelievers will be thrown into hell, Matt 10.28, and it will be the end of heaven and earth.2Thes 2:1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,2Thes 1:8, 9 dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power2Peter 3:12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heatAt the parousia, Christ will end it all.Mat 24:3
what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?1Cor 15:23, 24 But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christs at His coming, then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the GodAt the parousia, Christ will make all things new.2Pet 3:12, 13 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. To put it another way, when will the resurrection and the rapture occur? At the last trumpet.1Cor 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.1Thes 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.Mat 24:31 And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other. To put it another way, when will the end of the world occur? At the last trumpet, the 7th and last.Rev 11:15 Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.To put it another way, when will the resurrection occur? On the last day.John 6:39 This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day.Repeated three more times in John 6Also: John 11.24To put it another way, when will the judgment day occur? On the last day.John 12:48
the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.To put it another way, will the resurrection of the righteous and the wicked be simultaneous? Yes, it will be in a coming hour the last hour.John 5:28, 29 Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment. Conclusion? It will all happen on that one day. What a day it will be! Man has had his days birthday, graduation day, wedding day, Independence Day, Ground Hog Day, etc. The Lord will have His.How can I be ready for the great day of the Lord? A person might be fouled up on the above, and still make it to heaven if he knows how to be ready. If you repent of sin, giving your life to the living God unconditionally and believe on the Lord Jesus truly, sincerely, totally, that He died to pay your sin-debt you will be rescued from the wrath to come.1Thes 1:9, 10
you turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come. Most folks will be sleeping when their house burns, many with a false confession of Christ.1Thes 5:6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.Matt 7:22 Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?Sin is contraband. You dont want to be under its guilt or power.Rom 13:11,12 Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. The day will come; it is fixed by God. No bomb or cataclysm can stop it.Acts 17:30, 31
God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.Rev 22:20
Come, Lord Jesus.

Dear Brother in Christ, our Sister Joyful_Heart posted the Devotional from David Wilkerson from 3/3 and this one section was highly powerful -""I thank God for everyone who feeds his mind and soul with spiritual things. Such servants have fixed their eyes on what is pure and holy. They keep their gaze fixed on Christ, spending quality time worshipping him and building themselves up in faith. The Holy Spirit is at work in these saints, continually changing their character in Christs. These believers will be ready for the hard, explosive sufferings to come. Slothful, lazy, prayerless believers will suffer heart failure or breakdowns. Theyll be crushed by their fears, because they dont have the Holy Spirit at work in them, transfiguring them. When the hard times come, they simply wont make it."This second paragraph, which I seperated from his first, is that burden that none be deceived or fall into fearfulness, now, or in the days to come.Brother, you can take this as a Word from GOD or not, but I read this post of yours almost two hours ago and this shook me like an earth tremor.I believe what was said by one of our dearly loved departed authors, that is on the Homepage of SermonIndex, while he was alive, is very very true.... That in the last days, the or our main message would be the last days. It will be a blessing in evangelism and in strengthening the Saints, as in the two paragraphs quoted above."For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy", and to many, that is interpreted as "last days prophecy", because of the context of the book it was written into. That a knowledge of the last days is what Will get people through and that knowledge, being preached, will accomplish more to save people from falling and give the unsaved "the reason for our hope" and make sense to them of what is occuring around them.It is such a powerful trumpet call, a watchmen's call, that it will be a ministry in and of itself. That those who fearlessly preach these things will be blessed beyond what they thought their ministry would be.That the lives saved, will bring the messenger great Amens from Heaven above, if they are willing to pay the price. That though it is a hard message and many will bulk against it - that He will be moved in such a way by the ones that stay stedfast in this message and their reward will be great when they see Him - not necessarily before - though the bringing of just one soul "safely Home" would be reward enough, for not compromising on this one sorely needed truth. The one truth that was so important that GOD wrote into the last book of our Bible, "whoever adds or takes away from the message of THIS book will ......"GOD be with you and the Saints and I pray this message burn in your heart, as strongly or even stronger than any other revelation that he's ever given you since you've known Him. That it becomes the heart of your burden -- a burning zeal to never compromise from this truth that you know is a life or death message. That He will prove, that if one will stand in this testimony of Jesus and announce it without fear of loss, and be willing to pay the price that will come with it - that HE WILL BLESS, COMPLETELY, any vision of ministry that one feels GOD has called them to, In Christ Jesus' Name - To 'His' Glory Alone - not having the fear of men - He is Glorified! He will Bless - because 'that' is His true love for His Body, and His true love for those whom He did foreknow, would come into His Kingdom through this message in these days and the days to come. GOD Bless you and those who hold and proclaim this testimony of Jesus - as He has promised by His Word, Amen, and Amen. GOD Bless indeed.
Strongs Numbers and definitions of the word COMING. 3952. parousia 3953 >>a presence, a comingOriginal Word: παρουσία, ας, ἡPart of Speech: Noun, FeminineTransliteration: parousiaPhonetic Spelling: (par-oo-see'-ah)Short Definition: presence, a coming, arrival, adventDefinition: (a) presence, (b) a coming, an arrival, advent, especially of the second coming of Christ.3952 parousía (from parōn, "be present, arrive to enter into a situation") properly, coming, especially the arrival of the owner who alone can deal with a situation (cf. LS). 3952 (parousía) is a "technical term with reference to the visit of a king or some other official, 'a royal visit' " (Souter) "hence, in the NT, specifically of the Advent or Parousia of Christ" (A-S).[3952 (parousía) is "used in the east as a technical expression for the royal visit of a king, or emperor. The word means literally 'the being beside,' thus, 'the personal presence' " (K. Wuest, 3, Bypaths, 33).]Word Originfrom the pres. part. of pareimiDefinitiona presence, a comingFrom the present participle of pareimi; a being near, i.e. Advent (often, return; specially, of Christ to punish Jerusalem, or finally the wicked); (by implication) physically, aspect -- coming, presence. see parable Matthew 22:2-7
Bob Jennings writes"At the parousia, Christ will be revealed the revelation.2Thes 2:1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord2Thes 1:7
when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fireAt the parousia, Christ will raise the dead the resurrection"Verse 1 is such a poor translation, and I believe, intentionally erroneous. The KJV says Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him."This phase "I beseech you by..." is common to Paul's writing. Paul was not, as the mistranslation implies, requesting or asking them anything regarding the coming of Christ. Instead, he was beseeching, imploring them, by their already known understanding of the coming of Christ for His Bride. The next verse quoted, chap 1v7, is not about His coming (parousia),but His Appearing or Revelation(apokaloopsis). "in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ"The two events of His Coming, (as Approved says, a personal presence or coming) and His Appearing are not the same. The one is for His Beloved Church, for their marriage. The other is The Day of the Lord, for judgement. The one is when He comes for His saints, the other is when He comes with His saints. The one is imminent, at any time, the other is after the 3.5 years of events outlined in Matth 24.David
True. You can know every detail about the book of Revelation and not know Him. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. How do you know that you are growing in the knowledge OF Him and not the knowledge ABOUT Him? You are walking in love and compassion and being conformed to His image (love). Jer 9:23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: Jer 9:24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
