| The Excellencies of Christ | | I got this list from a Sermon by Jonathan Edwards "The Excellency of Christ"
1. There meet in Jesus Christ, infinite justice and infinite grace.
2.In the Person of Christ do meet together infinite glory and lowest humility.
3. In the person of Christ do meet together infinite majesty and transcendent meekness.
4. There meet in the person of Christ the deepest reverence towards God and equality with God.
5. There are conjoined in the person of Christ infinite worthiness of good, and the greatest patience under sufferings of evil.
6. In the person of Christ are conjoined an exceeding spirit of obedience, with supreme dominion over heaven and earth.
7. In the person of Christ are conjoined absolute sovereignty and perfect resignation.
8. In Christ do meet together self-sufficiency, and an entire trust and reliance on God.
9. There do meet in Jesus Christ infinite Highness and infinite condescension.
It seems that throughout time Only Christ Jesus is the perfectly Balanced Mediator of Heavn and Earth, Let us Praise HIS Holy Name!! _________________ Matthew Guldner

| Re: The Excellencies of Christ | | I would also like to add that it seems we run into much confusion and dispair when we focus on one side of His excellencies, we must remember that Christ is perfectly BALANCED. Take for example His Justice and Grace, we see that those that focus souly on His Justice are left low and often fearful though its not improper to Fear the Lord, this view neglects the Loving Grace of Christ. At the same time there are those that Fear the Lord and live loosely and in deep sin not realizing the Purpose of the Cross is to Free a Man from Sin, they fear the Lord none and dishonor His Nature by not acknowledging this wonderful attribute of God.
When we view God as unbalanced, He, Himself, isn't unbalanced in reality but we mentally, emotionally, and spiritually are very unstable and unbalanced. Let us focus on keeping Christ balanced in our thoughts accepting both side of the coin of His Nature and Praising Him all the more that He is prefectly balanced. _________________ Matthew Guldner

| Re: | | The justice of God makes the grace so amazing. The punishment we deserve is horrific, yet in his infinite mercy he bore the punishment justice required on the cross. Behold the Lamb of God, wool as white as snow,in lofty elevations, flashing from heaven, driving us down to the dust of the Damascus Road. _________________ Travis

| Re: | | IN CHRIST WE HAVE; A love that can never be fathomed, A life that can never die, A righteousness that can never be tarnished, A peace that can never be understood, A rest that can never be disturbed, A joy that can never be diminished, A hope that can never be disappointed, A glory that can never be clouded, A light that can never be darkened, A happiness that can never be interrupted, A strength that can never be enfeebled, A purity that can never be defiled, A beauty that can never be marred, A wisdom that can never be baffled, A patience that can never be exhausted, A GOD Who is more than enough!! _________________ Martin G. | Re: | | Jonathan Edwards describes Revelations stating the coming of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah worthy to open to the scroll, then much to John's surprise he sees a Lamb, not only a Lamb but one that had looked as if slain. In this we see these various excellencies. _________________ Matthew Guldner

| Re: | | 1 Peter 2:9 ... so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
This is one of my favorite verses. For all the preaching that we do, we must make sure that whenever possible, we make much of what we say about the excellencies of Him. This is what we do, be it in the Church or in the world, we are to make known His excellencies above all other things. _________________ Jimmy H
