Broken BreadDaily Devotions from the Daily Lightby Evan HopkinsJuly 19HE THAT IS MIGHTY HATH DONE TO ME GREAT THINGS; AND HOLY IS HIS NAME.--LUKE 1:49What Mary said in a special sense, every heaven-born soul can also say--"great things" has God done to me, "and holy is His name." Every renewed heart, every enlightened mind, every quickened soul, is a miracle of grace. "We are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works" (Eph. 2:10). Nothing short of almighty power could accomplish the change that takes place when a soul passes from death to life. But holiness as well as omnipotence stamps His work in every case of conversion. It is not only a passage from bondage to freedom, from misery to joy, but also from sin to holiness, from the service of satan to God. "Holy is his name." We not only rejoice that the tyranny and sorrow are over, we rejoice that the life of obedient and holy service has begun. To Him we give all the glory. It is He who has wrought the change. It is He by whose power the work has been done; and by that same power are we kept faithful and true. He who is Almighty to sve is also Almighty to keep.
