Broken BreadDaily Devotions from the Daily Lightby Evan HopkinsJuly 9I have caused thy iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with a change of raiment.--Zech. 3:4It is the Messenger of the Covenant that utters these words, "I have done this." None but Jehovah could "cause iniquity to pass away." The change of raiment could not take place until the iniquity was done away. This denoted the putting on of priestly vestments. These were new and clean, instead of those that were old and soiled. The significance of all this would appear to be, first, God's pardon and cleansing, and then the restoration of the pardoned one to the priveleges of priestly service. They could no longer render to God acceptable service. How true is this of the child of God who, through some form or other, is no longer serving in the power of the Spirit! Such a one needs something more than pardon. "I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment."
