 scholary works of John?

I'm wanting to purchase a scholary work of John, but I don't know what the best source is. Arthur W. Pink seems to be referenced quite a bit in other works that i hve read. I really only want to buy one for the time being. What author/s have the the reputation of being known for their works in the gospel of John?

 Re: scholary works of John?

As far as modern authors go, a scholarly work on the gospel would be D.A. Carson's commentary.

As far as older works go, someone like John Gill, Calvin, or Henry would be good.

With care in Christ,
Taylor

Check out W. H. Van Doren's insanely large commentary. It's over 1400 pages of expository and homiletics. Like wow.

Leon Morris's "Expository Reflections on the Gospel of John" has been nice in a pinch a few times for me. Though I have not read the whole thing yet.
