Re:

Quote:
Search your heart that you might see

God would have us seek Him to reveal the secrets of our ways. I wouldn't know where to begin if I try to search my own heart. But I know the many times that I have sought God to show me what is in my heart and the many times He has answered with a revelation of what is there (He's not finished by the way).

The closest thing that has immediately come to mind in the way of scripture is Proverbs 4:23-27

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
[24] Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
[25] Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
[26] Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
[27] Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

Please pray for me that God will come. I can do no more and have tried all, claimed all, worked all and waited but still I find deadness and no reality to show my kids of the Power of God.

OK, so you know all the doctrine about dying to self and victory over sin and the power of the Holy Spirit. Maybe you even know Romans 6 by heart? You know the formula and now you're afraid to apply it and fail again.

Maybe you could forget about the formula for a bit and look at the simple words of Joshua and Caleb, "let us go up at once...the Lord will bring us in...the Lord is with us" (Numbers 13:30 ; 14:8,9). Maybe we can't trust the formula any more but perhaps we can still trust the Lord.

Don't imagine the defeat that may come tomorrow, "get up at once", put on your armor and walk up the hill with God. Just take the next immediate step of obedience with Him, then take the next step after that. It is there, in the present moment of obedience that the grace and power of God will be found.

In Christ,

Ron

Please see these videos by John MacArthur. I really believe it will help you a lot in understanding and improving your situation. In fact, I highly recommend it to everyone.

The title is "Keys to Spiritual Growth" [there's 3 sessions and I believe each session there's 6 parts (each part is less than 10 minutes) to it].

This is how I search my heart, I go to my Lord and I ask Him to show me what is not right. Obviously my heart was not right when I typed the above, or my words would have come out right. I apologize for any concern, confusion or damage that it has caused.

 Re:

Psalm 77

I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me. In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted. I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more? Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore? Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High. I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God? Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people. Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled. The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad. The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook. Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known. Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
