Teach me, Father, what to say;Teach me Father how to pray;Teach me along the way;How to be like Jesus.Teach me how we may be one;Like the Father and the Son;I will always overcome;I will be like Jesus.Lord, make me like You;Please make me like You;You are a servant;Lord, make me one, too;Oh Lord, I am willing to what you must do;To make me like You, Lord;Make me like You.I would be like JesusI would be like JesusHelp me, Lord, to daily growMore and more like Jesus.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dlsT2P6Xmg(This song is a beautiful, heartfelt prayer~ I minimised the page, closed my eyes and meditated on the words.)
Do we really want to be like Jesus?1 Peter 2v21-23 tells us that Christ gave us an example to follow, He suffered. He also did not revile when He was reviled.Christ lived a life of sacrifice, denied Himself and desired to do God's will. But God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, Eph 3v20.If we really want to be like Jesus we cannot kid ourselves that it will be easy.It isn't.
Yes, this is our calling... above all else... This HAS to be our heart's cry, Make me like Jesus. It's not easy and it's not an easy thing to pray, there is a cost: our lives, but a greater glory! This is not something we do in our own strength, but through the grace and righteousness of Christ at work in us. Thanks for your input and words here.God bless!
It should be a heart cry, but is it?When we look at the 'church' today, we fail to see that. So, we look to Jesus.
This is a very, very, very serious / scary thing to pray."God, make me like Jesus, at any cost."He will begin to cut, break, squeeze, burn, and purify you in many different ways.We grow in Christ-likeness by partaking in His sufferings.
