 Quoting Mr. Jones

Jesus is Good News; all else is, at its best, good views.
All religions are man’s attempt to climb to God. Jesus is God’s descent to man.
All religions are man’s search for God. Jesus is God’s search for man.
E. Stanley Jones

A creed, to be a creed, must be a vital rather than a verbal one.

 Re: Quoting Mr. Jones

Prophesy is not fore-telling, but forth-telling – an aggressive downright pressing home of the word of God upon the conscience of people.

Those who throng Jesus get little, those who touch Jesus get everything.

”I would not do that for a million,” said a wealthy visitor as he watched a missionary nurse wash the sores of a leper.
“Neither would I,” replied the nurse.
But she would do it for love.

What is the basis of our fellowship?
Everyone who belongs to Christ belongs to everyone who belongs to Christ.

Those who, to impress their high spirituality, are always insisting that they don’t think about themselves are unconsciously revealing their self-interest in talking about their self-denial.

Faith is an adventure of the spirit, a going out of the whole inner life in response to something we believe to be supremely worth wile. It is a wagering of the life, and not merely a nodding of the head.
It is not discussion, it is decision. It is the launching out on the highest hypothesis I know – with my life.
I don’t believe in a thing unless I can act on it. I don’t believe in Christ unless I am prepared to wager all to follow Him. That is faith.

The universe and you and I are built for truth. The universe will not back a lie. All lies sooner or later break themselves upon the facts of things.

 Re: Quoting Mr. Jones

Christianity teaches not self-abasement, but self-surrender. Self-abasement means self-debasement. The self is a gift of God and was never intended to be debased. It is an insult to the Creator to treat His gifts with contempt. Self-hate is as bad as other-hate. Self-abasement is man’s attempt to destroy the self in order to replace it by the Self. As if God should desire to sit enthroned on the ruins of self, a self He made! That kind of God would de a monster devouring His own offspring.
