Where did Cain's wife come from?

This morning, my son asked me this question, 'Where did Cain's wife come from'? Though I've wondered the same myself, I have never come to any good conclusion.

Does anyone know?

Since Adam and Eve are the first humans then Cains wife would be his sister or a niece. The bible is condensed and does not always give us every detail.
Also, keep in mind Adam and eve lived for hundreds of years. So they had many children.

Hi MJones...

The bottom line: The Bible does not say where Cain's wife came from.

:-)

I think that's why I've always given up on trying to figure it out.

 Re:

(Gen 5:4) The days of Adam after he fathered Seth were 800 years; and he had other sons and daughters.

The logic is so simple that it goes without explanation.

Blessings,

Well what do you know. Didn't even have to leave the state to get the answer.

Hi Jeremy.

LOL, Hey brother,

Sometimes our western linear thought process gets in the way of Biblical texts that are not so pinned to a strict chronological flow. Taking Seth for example. We're not even told whether he was the 3rd child the 5th or even the 50th. I suppose that since Adam was 130yrs old when Seth was born, possibly a large number of children had already been born to Adam and to his offspring. Seth could have had third and fourth cousins entering adult years while he was learning to crawl.

I guess in a culture existing when Genesis was written where people were still marrying half-sisters, marrying your sister was not as (for lack of a better word) gross as it is today making the leap in logic not as difficult.

 Re:

Interesting thought. I have to admit, I've never thought of that possibility. You make it easy to believe.

Have you made your move yet? Still looking forward to meeting.

 Re:

Simply put... he married one of his sisters. Which also prooves that the Garden of Eden was in Kentucky.
