The Evangelist states:Interest: Preaching Christ and Him Crucified!Comment:Preaching is done with ones whole life. You preach what you are.A quote; The life of the Vine and the branch is so completely identical, that the manifestation of the life must be identical too.A. Murray. The Evangelist does need to consider and reflect on conduct and appearance also regarding behaviour in these threads. Your words do preach, but not the Cross of ChristLars W.Minor Moderator

Hmm...well thanks for that bit of advice. If I can learn from it and God is gonna to change that part of my life I'm willing to allow him to do so.
Your words do preach, but not the Cross of Christ
Dear Evangelist,Thank you for responding. We all have a lot to learn regarding human behaviour and reactions. We all have a lot to learn about the Cross and its work.I am quite fond of straight talking - and I therefore recognize fervour and outrightness as a plus in a ministry profile.Blessings,Lars
21"I can't stand your religious meetings.I'm fed up with your conferences and conventions.22I want nothing to do with your religion projects, your pretentious slogans and goals.I'm sick of your fund-raising schemes, your public relations and image making.23I've had all I can take of your noisy ego-music.When was the last time you sang to me?24Do you know what I want?I want justice--oceans of it.I want fairness--rivers of it.That's what I want. That's all I want. From The Message.jouko here and I've sort of read through the book as I finally got hold of it through a friend. Sort of means, I got tired of reading this humanistic book that says that is all about God but promotes self often enough.I do not find that 40 days is a significant time spritually in the Bible and that whenever God wanted to prepare someone it took 40 days.Real spiritual growth is never an isolated, individualistic pursuit. Really ???? Where do I find this in the Scriptures ? Ravenhill and his comments on travailing and praying comes to mind. Matt 6:6 speaks about an inner chamber. In that inner chamber you will not be able to pretend, the drawback of course is that nobody but God will know and it might take longer or less than the 40 days prescribed. Then you have the promotion of material that can be bought in conjunction with this book. What happens if I break the covenant I sign with Rick ? and why would I even want to sign a covenant with him ? Why do I need to sign a covenant if I join Saddleback ?Does finding yourself, your true self sound Biblical ? compared to lose your life (for the Lord's sake)to find true life ?Could you please check out the statement: Above and below, visible and invisible. What does it mean to bring out the best in us ?I thought the idea was for me to die and Him to increase.About DNA and designer purpose. Lenin, Stalin, Mao etc on page 23.I would like for you to check out these persons in whatever way possible.Bertrand RussellAnais NinBernie SiegelHenry David ThoreauBro LawrenceMother TheresaAldous HuxleyHenri NouwenWould you use them in conjunction with teaching the Word of God ?Would you use entire verses and in context to teach or would you use parts of verses to get it to fit in your teaching ?What is the "power of focusing" ? Jesus and the fork on page 57 ? Is that for real or a joke ? Compare to page 282.How about teaching the whole of John 3 ?This is about the stage where I started losing interest so I mainly skimmed the text.Nothing about the blood of Jesus nor true repentance for your sins. Hell's Best Kept Secret comes to mind. Sacred pathway, 9 ways to God, personalities, he is in everything, eastern mysticism, biblical 8 step recovery etc.A very good advice is to memorise scripture but from which scripture ?Some of my concerns and criticism and below some more from other people.http://www.erwm.com/Church%20Growth%20Movement.htmWith blessings and sorry to drag this up again.jouko

Amen Jouko! I totally agree with you!The Evangelist
Just realised this was actually an old response here (from Jouko) but as it often seems around here at times, threads cut across each other on similar ... themes. This morning couldn't get away from these two words;"smooth things"Isa 30:10
