Luke 17:6

Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, If you had faith as a grain of mustard seed, you could say unto this sycamine tree (or mulberry tree), Be plucked up by the root, and be planted in the sea; and it would obey you.

Question:
If the word is actualy "in", why would anyone with faith tell a good fruit bearing tree which is good for wood to be thrown into the sea?
This kind of tree is also frequently planted by the waysides for shade as people walk under them;
If the word is actualy "in", why would anyone with faith tell this tree to be thrown into the sea?

As peopel are likened to trees in the bible, The sycamine tree or mulberry tree is a good and not bad as the person told about in verses 1&2

If one has any faith, they would tell someone to be planted where they may flourish BY the sea(water) as in Psalm 1:3.

Well, silly, because if they throw the wood into the sea all the metal will float to the surface! :-P

Luke 17
4. "And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, `I repent,' forgive him."
5. The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"
6. And the Lord said, "If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, `Be uprooted and be planted (by) the sea'; and it would obey you.

The context would seem to agree with you on this point.

1) A brother sins against you &
2) sincerely repents &
3) you forgive him &
4) this can be likened to planting a tree (the brother) by the waterside (reconciliation).

As our Lord declared, "those who are forgiven much, love much."
