In Luke 1:5-6, it is said of Zacharias and Elisabeth, parents of John the Baptist, that "they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless".Elders are required to be blameless in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.It's my view that our inward corruptions remain even after the new birth. We should ever endeavor in this earth to put off the new man and put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect".Something approaching outward blamelessness seems possible even as inward corruptions remain. At the same time, we should ever repent of our inward corruptions and their outward expressions as they occur.Agree?

I do see that Zacharias didn't stay blameless indefinitely. The angel, Gabriel, came to him, when his lot was to burn incense in the temple, and told him that Elizabeth was to bear him a son and told him about that son. Upon doubting Gabriel, he became mute until after John the Baptist was born.
