 Watchman, what of the night?

Time is running out! Wake up, for the coming of the Lord is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is far gone, the day of His return will soon be here. So quit the evil deeds of darkness and put on the armor of right living, as we who live in the daylight should.

Now learn a lesson from the fig tree, when her branch is tender and the leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is almost here. Just so,when you see all these things beginning to happen, you can know that my return is near, even at the doors. Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words remain forever.
I wait expectantly, trusting God to help, for He has promised . I long for Him more than sentinels long for the dawn.
He who has said all these things declares: "Yes,
I am coming soon!' Amen! Come , Lord Jesus!
So stay awake and be prepared, for you do not know the date or moment of my return.

Taken from Book, "In Touch."
Scripture from the Living Bible.
Is. 21:11, Romans 13:11,12. Matt. 24:32, 35, Psalms !30:5,6, Rev. 22:20, Matt.25:13.

I wanted to share this.
May we all be ready to go out to meet our Bridegroom.
God Bless all.

Re: Watchman, what of the night?

Nellie,

How interesting to read the points in your post. This very morning, I wrote these simple lyrics to a sad celtic melody in my journal.

Watchman, Watchman,
What of the Night?
How long before man's deeds
are brought to the light?

"Already, I've seen the star of the morning!
The light of the world,
though we have scorned him.
He is coming in power and with his reward.
For some the day will be bright
For others, an eternal night."

Wise maids, wise maids
Have you oil to spare?
The flame of my lamp fades
cold in the night air.

"We cannot, for the bridegroom is nearby.
Soon we will call for us,
and take us inside.
Hurry! Run, before it's too late,
and purchase fresh oil.
For the wedding cannot wait."

"Can you see the Sun of Righteousness,
arising as the dawn with healing in his wings?
He has come to trample the rulers of darkness.
Some will gain eternal life,
and others a second death.

MC

Re: Watchman, what of the night?

Amen...thanks for the stirring reminders!

The scripture tells us "Awake thou that sleepest and Christ shall give thee light!" Eph 5:14, He will give us understanding of the times we are living in if we seek Him...and He'll instruct us and teach us in the way we should go in this age of rampant deception. There's only one place to get the oil-isn't there? He is our Supply.
