A challenging thought by an atheist

When God was challenging c t stud bout his future he came across this tract written by an atheist
God used it to challenge his life
It reads as follows
That I firmly believe as millions say they do
That the knowledge & practice of religion in this life influences destiny in another religion would mean everything to me
I would cast away earthly enjoyments as dross
Earthly cares as follys & earthly thoughts & feelings as vanity
Religion would be my first waking thought & my last image before sleep sank me into unconsciousness
I should labour in its cause alone I would take thought for the morow of eternity alone
I would estemm 1 soul gained for heaven worth a life of suffening
Earthly consequences should never stay my hand nor seal my lips
Earth its joys & its griefs would occupy no moment of my thoughts
i would strive to look upon eternity alone & on the immortal souls around me
Soon to be everlastingly happy or everlastingly misreble
I would go forth to the world & preach to it in season & out of it season & my text would be
What shall it prophet a man if he gains the whole world but loses his own soul
C t stud said I saw at once that this was the truly consistant Christian life
When I looked back upon my own life I saw how inconsistent it had been
I therefore determined that from that time forth my life should be consitant & I set myself to know what was Gods will for me

Brother thank you for sharing that, I first heard this in a book called: True Discipleship by William McDonald. Also Leonard Ravenhill quoted it in his sermon on this site: Eternity (CD Quality) ! thanks for sharing again. I actually wrote it in the inside cover of my old bible.
