147 days until the Greenock, Scotland Revival Conference
In Joel 2:1 we read, Blow the trumpet in Zion. It is we Christians who need to be aroused, and to be exhorted daily (Heb. 3:7-19; 4:1). It is we Christians who need to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God (1 Peter 5:6). Can it be that revival tarries because we Christians are not humble enough for God to work through us?
Thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones (Isa. 57:15).
If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves
and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven
(2 Chron. 7:14).
It is you and I, fellow Christians, fellow soldiers of Jesus Christwe are the ones who delay revival showers!
Suffer the word of exhortation (Heb. 13:22). Are we so set in our own ways, in our own ideasthat God cannot teach us His way? Listen to this: The meek will He guide in judgment: and the meek will He teach His way (Psa. 25:9).
God can get hold of sinners if He can first get hold of saints and get them really on fire, filled with the Holy Spirit, humble at heart, forbearing other Christians in love (Eph. 4:2).
How really humble are youam I? Great peace have they which love Thy law: and nothing shall offend them (Psa. 119:165). I was told in one place where God was working in revival powerpeople would come in to the meetings and they would not approve of some things that were being done. They would get to their feet and openly criticize the things that were going on.
But these truly revived saints of God would just smile at them and this manifestation of the love of God so convicted the opposers that they were ashamed of themselves. They realized that the people there had something which they themselves did not possess.
Today if you do not have the same theological slant as others, often there is a bristling up, an arguing, a contention, a strife and even sometimes hatred and bitter words. -W. C. Moore
