this is where the demonstration of the gospel comes in. For most of us it is theory. We read about the mighty works of God.What moves the skeptic is when he sees that Jesus is alive and still does what he did before. What will yank this guys chain is the prophetic. When the dead are raised, blind eyes are opened deaf hear, leapers are claeansed, and demons cast out.Yes the Good news of the gospel is amazingly good news.It is such good news that when the Gospel is preached in power that signs and wonders follow. A true Holy Ghost filled man of God can go to the worst demon filled religious stronghold in India and say" When I preach to you Jesus and he is still alive the he will do the same things he did when he walked the earth. Now if he is no longer alive then nothing will happen. But he is Alive and when I preach Jesus , blind eyes will open, the deaf will hear, the lame will walk, the leapers will be made whole and demons will tremble and flee. And if this doesnt happen then I am a false prophet and you have my permission to stone me"........but tary in Jerusalem untill you are indued with power.David
Psalm1 and Little gift, I love your posts, I do, I really love the truthful content of these sort of words. It also epitomizes the fact that real and spiritual good news must come forth, not the everyday mundane words that we use, i am with Art Katz and Brother Tozer when it comes to words. Our words must resound from Heaven, our own words, our own tolerance must no longer b tolerated. We as Believers must tarry in Jerusalem sort of speak, and wait on that true refreshing. We also must have the confidence to trust God to do in us what he did in our previous "fathers" if you will. We need HIM to do in us what he has done in others, but I hear HIM saying, give yourself to me, give yourself to me!We must come full circle with true authentic patience, faith, and a waiting that is synonymous of our forefathers if you will of scripture.....I am not trying to sound spiritual or so holy, trust me, I am small in the plan of the Almighty, I would just love to be moved and filled by our Lord as never b4...We must, we must, we must, we must be born againWith love SaintsEJG
Mr. Hitchens doesn't like much of anything and religion is an easy target. Nothing new:.Religion has caused more misery to all of mankind in every stage of human history than any other single idea Madelyn O'Hair.Ms. O'Hair hated God, too. but i think her criticism of prayer in public schools was good for the faith and brought the subject of religion into the public. (and public prayer in school probably never saved anyone)So, when Mr. Hitchens criticizes Christianity, he not only brings the subject into public domain, but also he lays out his rationale for arguement. For example, he criticizes Jesus' teaching of "love your enemies" as being suicidal, . . of not being in the best interests of the individual. It is easy to see that he has interpreted this teaching by assuming the worst possible circumstances about it: that the person has to bear their throat to their enemy, or some such nonsense. He doesn't examine the societal implications of this teaching at all. so it is easy to criticize from this lazy point of view.i say, let him ramble on in his alcoholic stupor. he makes it easy to see the flaws in his approach. in the end he will come crawling on hands and knees saying he didn't really mean it. just testing us for our own good, or some such.Ms. O'Hair's critcism of religion in general is much more valid, although i cannot imagine the void in life if there was no God or spiritual realm or religion . . . if we were just so many atoms bouncing around randomly.Indeed, the Crusades, the witch trials, and way too many other examples of misery caused by religion exist. But, what a horrible idea, a world without the love of God!bub
Maybe he's running. Maybe there's a call of God on his life and he's confused and/or afraid. I've seen this happen in my own circle of friends. Perhaps what he really needs is prayer to see him through his issues. Just a thought.
