Difference Between Grace and Mercy.

Grace is been defined in so many ways because it encompassess a lot of things. To me, i say GRACE is receiving what you don't deserve. While Mercy is not receiving what you deserved. Most of the times when i ready christian articles, i discovered they don't really know the difference between Grace and mercy and so they interchange they. I believed you most be born again and living a righteous life for you to be under grace. I hear many say, assuming a man for into sin, it is still be grace of God that is still keeping him alive. I believe it is mercy and not grace because, the person have fallen out of grace. Paul say, shall we continue in sin that grace may abound, God forbid. Grace help and teaches us to overcome sin, not to fall into sin. Titus say, the grace of God as appeared unto all men teaching us to deny ungogliness and worldly lust, to live soberly, righteously in this present world. As long as you have fallen into sin, you are no more under grace but the mercy of God is still there.
I need more views on this. Thanks.

Re: Difference Between Grace and Mercy.

Mercy is when we don't get what we deserve; grace is when we do get what we could never have deserved. Mercy, in the OT, is a stooping-down word; God condescending to our condition in coming to us as we are. Grace, is God's enabling power, lifting us from what we have been to what we intends we should be.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Heb 4:16 NKJV

1john3v9 whoever is born of God doth not commit sin;for His seed remaineth in Him:and He cannot sin, because He is born of God.
1john2v4 He that Saith,I know him and keepeth not his commandments,is a liar, and the truth is not in Him.

Re: Difference Between Grace and Mercy.

Greetings Soji,
Grace is: The Devine inflence upon the heart and it`s reflection in the life.( That strong Spirit of God drawing us upward to HIM.

Mercy is: We deserve The death penalty for our sin`s..But the LORD offers us LIFE.

Grace and Peace unto you,
Ebeth

 Re:

May I add also,
Grace is the enableing power ,that HIS will, will

reflect in our life ..which IS His LIFE worked-out in us.It is HE that doeth the works.
wiht-out GRACE we cannot do it.
In John 1:14 it say`s Jesus was FULL of GRACE.
He was able to overcome every temptation.
The more GRACE ..the more we will be able to overcome sin/satan.
Remember ..Paul and others would always say
GRACE be unto you...he sas the necessity of GRACE.
Ebeth..(again)

 Re:

I have a little magnet that says:

Justice - When you get what you deserve.
Mercy - When you don't get what you deserve.
Grace - When you get what you don't deserve.

I also think that grace enables us to do what Truth demands.
