HelpPsalm 121:1-2 A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. [2] My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. In these first words of one of the greatest psalms of David, the nobleness which we immediately feel seems to lie in this, that David will seek help only from the highest source. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord who hath made heaven and earth. Nothing less than Gods help can really meet his needs. O for that spirit which is content with nothing less or lower than the highest help. To turn in temptation directly to the power of God; to cry out in sorrow for Gods company; to be satisfied in doubt with nothing short of the assurance that God gives. I turn to Jesus, and in all His human life there seems to be nothing more divine than the instinctive and unerring way in which He always reached up to the highest, and refused to be satisfied with any lower help. He could not rest anywhere till He had found God His Father, and laid the burden which was crushing Him, into the bosom of the eternal strength and exhaustless love. It is your privilege and mine, as children of God, to be satisfied with no help but the help of the highest.Phillip Brooks, Candle of the Lord.
Thank you for posted this. Having used the word "unerring" this morning, I resonate with this devotional. Bless you!

Amen - Bless you! This Psalm's verses are in a song that's gotten me through quite a bit. Also, those verses from that Psalm got my Pastor through his surgery. And God Bless you both.Praise You in this StormI was sure by now, God you would have reached downand wiped our tears away, stepped in and saved the day.But once again, I say Amenthat it's still raining. As the thunder rollsI barely hear Your whisper through the rain,"I'm with you."and as your mercy fallsI raise my hands and praisethe God who gives and takes away.Chorus:And I'll praise You in this stormand I will lift my handsthat You are who You areno matter where I amand every tear I've criedYou hold in your handYou never left my sideand though my heart is tornI will praise You in this stormI remember when I stumbled in the windYou heard my cry - You raised me up again. My strength is almost gone, how can I carry onif I can't find Youand as the thunder rollsI barely hear You whisper through the rain"I'm with you"and as Your mercy fallsI raise my hands and praisethe God who gives and takes awayChorusI lift my eyes unto the hillswhere does my help come from?My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and earthI lift my eyes unto the hillswhere does my help come from?My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth...Chorus
