Another illustration:

Using the Pen to Obscure the Sword
"The State Department is scrambling to revise its annual report on global terrorism ... amid charges that the document is inaccurate and was politically manipulated," reports the Los Angeles Times. The most recent "Patterns of Global Terrorism" report, which claimed terrorist attacks declined 45% and minor terrorism events declined more than 90%, was touted by the Bush administration as proof that America's winning the "War on Terrorism." At its release, Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage called the report "clear evidence that we are prevailing." The corrected report will likely show an increase in significant terrorist incidents, according to experts. One State Department official called the errors "clerical," and likely due to the recent transfer of responsibility for the report from the CIA to the new Terrorist Threat Integration Center.  Re:

Scripturally speaking:

"Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, "Come, I will show you the judgement of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication."

Please notice the relationship of the kings with the harlot. If these are the last times what should we be looking for?

 Re:

During the Reagan Administration, Osama Bin Laden and his associates were raised up and taught terrorist tactics by the United States. These men were trained in order to combat the Soviets who had just invaded Afganistan. Again look at the compromise that men make in their pursuits.

During this time the US government brought many of these men to the United States for training. Access into the US was given through the issuing of student visas.

Now we fast forward to the beginning of the present Bush Administration. When he took office, orders were given to FBI officials to stop any ongoing investigations into the Bin Laden family and other Saudi nationals. Listen to this report of some of the details that I have glossed over.

These days are evil, look to what the kings of this earth desire.

 Re: Wowwwwwwwwww!!!

Brother Jeff words fail me to tell you how much I've enjoyed your posts on this topic ... I'm extremely analytical by nature, and there's nothing I love better than facts and history to expose the meaning of the handwriting on the wall: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin ...

In a recent post to you on: Sister Diehl's topic of: Life Lessons (What Has God Been Teaching You?) ... I posted these words to you ...

Wait to you come to the realization of this mind freeing truth ... "There is no goodness of the world" ...

But this was before I read your background and the direction our Lord is taking you in ... Not only do you already know that there's no goodness of the world, you know why!

What was it that our Lord said to you? ... Linkage ... Man I feel such an excitement in my spirit in regards your usage of our Lord ...

May the Holy Spirit of God baptize you in His comfort and extraordinary peace as he continues to reveal to you the "TRUTH" ... And please keep sharing it! ... Amen

 Re:

Thankyou Brother for your exhortation,

The following will be a two part illustration. We must step back in time to the early 1970's. Again this is an illustration of the battle between Capitalism and Communism. Many times men profess to support the notion, that they desire to create democracy through out the world. Yet there are stipulations which are not generally made public and yet in private men act to create a form of government which aligns with their interest. Again I am not taking sides, this is meant to show the results of decisions made by men of this world.

BBC
"The coup in which General Augusto Pinochet seized power in 1973 was the bloodiest in 20th century South America.

More than 3,000 were killed in the September military onslaught, which began when fighter jets bombed the Presidential Palace while the democratically elected President, Salvador Allende, was still inside.

It was the start of a 17-year rule by General Pinochet. But the bloodshed did not stop there.

The general looked fearsome and talked tough. He promised wholesale reform of the political system which had allowed the annual rate of inflation to reach 150% in 1973.

No time was wasted. The military government dissolved Congress, suspended the constitution and opposition parties were outlawed. Shortly after came a night-time curfew and strict limits on the media.

Economic reform came in the shape of free-market principles. Nationalised companies were returned to their original owners, trade barriers were cut to encourage foreign imports and there was renewed emphasis on exports.

General Pinochet had once articulated his goal as "to make Chile not a nation of proletarians, but a nation of entrepreneurs".

Chilean society had been split by Allende's socialist rule, and so it was under the new right-wing leader. But with Pinochet in charge dissidents spoke out at their peril.

The general's iron rule was underpinned by the tactics of brutal repression that saw thousands die and thousands more flee into exile. Others disappeared or were tortured. Many still respect Pinochet as a patriot.

Particular targets were those who threatened unrest in the workplace and the shantytown dwellers who demanded better living conditions.

In the absence of any official political opposition, the Roman Catholic Church assumed the role of moral critic.

In 1976 the Pinochet regime's anti-democratic tactics were glimpsed by the wider world when a former Allende ambassador to the US was killed by a car bomb in Washington DC.

There was little doubt that the murder was linked to the government in Santiago but attempts by the Americans to extradite the accused members of the Chilean military were reportedly rebuffed.

Ten years later General Pinochet himself was the target of an assassination attempt, by the armed wing of the Communist Party. The dictator, however, escaped the attack on his motorcade with a few minor injuries. When in 1990 he stepped down, it was due to his own miscalculation. He gambled his one-man rule on a plebiscite and lost.

The general was down but not out. The constitution he had been instrumental in drawing up guaranteed his continuation as army commander-in-chief until 1998.

He has ensured the armed forces remain largely outside the control of the government - a condition that has made it difficult to bring the military to book for past human rights offences."

I read an article in the Bakersfield paper that pretains to this time in history. I am out of time for now.

In Christ
Jeff

 Re:

As it relates to this:

Quote:
Please notice that God asked Ezekiel to dig. Please notice that God revealed the darkness of that generation to a son of man. This son of man was dismayed by everything around him. Are we believers dismayed, do we dig to understand the evil around us? Or do we dig to bury our heads in the sand?

Isn't Ezekiel 8 that is quoted here refering to the "Lord's house" , "My sanctuary"?
Isn't this about the temple?
And if you were to draw a comparisson wouldn't it be more reflected upon the church, than on the world?

 Re:

Yes Mike,

With clarification, the temple was polluted by the world then, just as the church is poluted with the world now.

"Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this, To visit the orphans and widows in their trouble,
and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." James 1:27

That is the reason for developing this thread, to shine a light on the sources of darkness that I have witnessed that can lead the sheep astray.

Just think about this one. The leaders of our government are trying to change the law which would allow the church to recieve tax payers money for social work. What happened to the evangelical movement in places like India. The church built all kinds of hospitals and orphanages, but there was very little everlasting fruit.

 Re:

Brother Mike,

In terms of chapter 8 of Ezekiel, there are three groups of individuals named. The first group are the 70 elders of Israel. The second group comprised of women. And the third group comprise of 25 men worshiping toward the east. Now God summarizes the activities of the house of Israel.

"And He said to me, "Have you seen this, O son of man? Is it a trivial thing to the house of Judah to commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence; then they have returned to provoke Me to anger. Indeed they put the branch to their nose." Ezekiel 8:17

Please notice that the children of Israel filled the land with violence. What do we see around us? Does not everyone say we are God's special nation? Does not everyone say God bless America? And yet who really believes?

If you continue on to chapter 9, God gives the command to mark on the forehead all of those "who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within." vs 5. Then God gives the command to destroy all those without the mark.

If we claim God as a nation, then we must also be willing to be judged by God as a nation.

In Christ
Jeff

 Re:

I guess what I didn't say is the verses you quoted there were pertaining to the temple.

"Furthermore He said to me, "Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here, to make Me go far away from My sanctuary? Now turn again, you will see greater abominations." So He brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, there was a hole in the wall. Then He said to me, "Son of man, dig into the wall," and when I dug into the wall, there was a door. And He said to me, "Go in, and see the wicked abominations which they are doing there," So I went in and saw, and there-every sort of creeping thing, abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, protrayed all around on the walls. And there stood before them seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, and in their midst stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan. Each man had a censer in his hand, and thick cloud of incense went up....And He said to me, "Turn again, and you will see greater abominations that they are doing." So He brought me to the door of the north gate of the Lord's house; and to my dismay, women were sitting there weeping for Tammuz...Then He said to me, "Have you seen this, O son of man? Turn again, you will see greater abominations than these." So He brought me into the inner court of the Lord's house: and there, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, and they were worshipping the sun toward the east." Ezekiel 8

And it was just a question not a statement nesscesarily. Thanks for the clarification.

As to the other issues, to be honest, I don't know. These things very well may have some merit, but there is too much suspicion of agenda's and conspiracy theories for my taste. Time will tell and usually does.

I hear you, and I hear your caution. Is not the overwhelming opinion of this group of believers, the thought that, we are in the end times? So if this is true, what then can we as believers expect to see? Revelation speaks clearly in terms of certain events. The mark of the beast which is tied to the right to buy or sell will be part of this time. Men will be lovers of money, pleasure, and self glorification. There will be kings who commit adultery with the hoar. So if these are the end times should not the truth of Revelation begin to manifest itself?
