I don't think we are gossiping! Its hard not to notice when something is wrong.
Paul Washer has a sermon called: "How to get saved?" He rails the heresy of the southern baptist. The whole invitation process they have after eachservice.

Yes we should pray for them I agree.

Not for sure whom you thought was gossiping, me or all. If me it would not be another denomination on SB. I am still a SB.

 Re:

It's one thing for someone who is inside a congregation and loves that congregation to prophesy against it... because he's speaking the truth in love. It is an entirely different matter to get your kicks by calling the bride of Christ a whore.

'OooOoOOooh the Southern Baptists... what a bunch of blah blah blah.' You know, this isn't what Paul Washer sounds like when he speaks about the SBC, he's mourning, he's pleading, he's weeping.

When did you mourn or weep or plead with God for revival in the SBC?! You just sit here and talk trash about how sick and messed up the denomination is. It's like going to a hospital and joking about how funny Aids is... telling people they deserve cancer.

The SBC is my family, just as they are Paul's family, I've seen the problems, but I've also seen people sold out for Jesus. I certainly don't go around slandering whatever denominations you folks come from.

Gossip, Slander, yeah.

 Re:

Gossip is defined as: idle talk or rumor, esp. about the personal or private affairs of others.

Wikipedia goes on to further define gossip with, 'While officially value neutral, the term often specifically refers to talk of scandal, slander, or schadenfreude relating to known associates of the participants, and discussed in an underhand or clandestine manner.'

My own thoughts as follows:

The wicked thing about gossip is that on the surface it appears neutral... often a gossip (n) will defend themselves by saying that they are merely an observer to the truth, that they are just stating facts. While their statements imply an internal malice which lurks just under the surface of the comments.

Gossip often involves people who are not involved directly in the events. Like two people who do not attend a certain church talking about 'goings-ons' at a church they both know about. They are not intimately in tune with the facts, they are not tied to the outcome of the events in question, they are just idle chatterboxes.

Sometimes a gossip (n) may even claim that he is speaking for the benefit of others, however anyone involved in the subject of his gossip will see right through this person.

Back to what I just mentioned about Paul Washer. Paul Washer is an ordained minister in the Southern Baptist convention, when he speaks before an audience of Southern Baptists about the need for revival and the false assurance of many Southern Baptists he is not gossiping, he is intimiately involved in the issue and tied to it's outcome.

When a member of a presbyterian congregation and a member of a mennonite brethren congregation talk casually about the problems in the SBC, without any real concern for it's members, without any degree of burden for revival, interjecting slanderous comments about 'SBC members like abortion, they smoke reefer and eat babies' then, yeah, that definitely applies as gossip, especially when done on an internet forum.

 Re:

Are you saying a man has to stand in a certain place, such as a pulpit and have a title given by man to speak truth. Is that what you are saying? Brother I don't think so. The Apostle Paul and the rest where not given any man-made titles but only by God. It seemed to you are trying to justify a standard for some to speak truth and if
others speak something you want to call it gossip.
I'm sorry if this sounds blunt. I just call em like I see um brother.
moe_mac

edit: and I know what the defintion of gossip is. It is when someone is gossiping about another speaking something. Does the shoe fit. And the SBC members Paul talks about is not your brothers, they can be with a changed heart. As I said brother some times it all depends on what one wants to hear, from who, at a certain time. I was talking about anyone other than unsaved SBC members. As I said I'm an SB too. SB, Methodist, Pentecostal, it don't matter what denomination, you gotta have Jesus and when you have Jesus look out people are to attack you and guess which ones.

Story time:

" Hey, Billy, I was talking to my friend Jimmy, and he wasconfiding in me and told me he has a huge problem with pornography! Billy we really need to pray for him! Don't tell anyone though!"

And Cut...:-)

Another example of gossiping.

In response to your gossip free post:
moe wrote: I haven't heard anyone on this thread call the bride a whore. The bride has oil in their lamps. You got be married before you can committ adultery. I can see we are not in agreement on this subject and that's ok. If you feel comfortable where you stand on this subject and God has given you peace to stand there. Who am I to tell you move? I could give much rebuutal, but if you don't here it from the right place it would help you anyway.

edit: I guess the Apostle Paul used the wikipedia often. I can only speak for myself but I spend way to much time replying and defending what I have already stated or trying to straiting up what someone has attempted to twist. In the future my prayer is to state what I know to be truth and let the loose end drag. If I worry about what someone else replies to on a post or when I believe they are twisting my words to fit their theology, then I am only worried about what men think and that is not suppose to be a priority in my life. You think this is what is called strife and causes strife?

 Re:

Once again, Apostle Paul had the authority and respect of (most) of the churches, and his heart cry was to see them as a spotless bride for Christ. He pleaded with them as a father pleads with his children.

The heart of a prophet isn't just to see people 'turn or burn' especially in churches we don't care anything about... the heart of a prophet is to get a glimpse of eternity and the father's heart for these people, and do everything in their power to let the people know how much God loves them, and how much their actions pain a Holy and Loving God.

A prophet doesn't sit at a computer and make snide jabs at one denomination being unsaved... he goes and joins that church and shares with them the burden he's been given by the Lord.

Apostle Paul also said that he would go to hell if it meant that his country men would experience salvation... if the choice was his, he'd make an eternal substitution. That is the heart of a prophet, not just to tell a person they're wrong and walk way, it's to tell a person they're wrong, but continue to love on them and try to open their eyes with every ounce of life that God gives you. Most prophets were killed by the people God told them to plead with.

But I guess the modern day prophet just sits at a computer and talks about how one church is unsaved, and another is in error, etc. etc. no no, this isn't a prophet, it's a spiritual gossip, it's spiritual pride.

Paul Washer, Apostle Paul, they both love the congregations they were preaching to. We may listen to the audio sermon or read the letters, but we also have to understand that these aren't just words floating in time, they're meant in a specific context, and originally intended for a specific set of people.

When Apostle Paul rebuked churches, he would have given his life for them to be in the right. When Paul Washer points out heresy and ignorance in the SBC, he does it because he wants revival, not because he gets his kicks in pointing out that particular bride's filth.

And there you go again with your over-generalization. This is the worst kind of spiritual gossip and slander. This forum is full of it... 'super Christians' just sit around pointing out how the rest of the church is falling apart, when we're just as big a part of the problem.

It's like the two men who went into the temple to pray... we're the Pharisee 'thank God you didn't make me like the SBC, I know my doctrinal statements, I've said all the right prayers and made all the right commitments... those SBC people think they can get into heaven by beating on their chest and asking for forgiveness... ha! I know so much better because I'm involved in a Christian forum online where we debate the smalled comma in NT scripture, and the merits of pre or post tribulation. These people don't know anything about church, they're just a bunch of sinners, churches filled with sinners, thank you God I'm not like them.'

 Re:

Hey Guys,
Back to the topic, I was listening to one of Paul Washer's true gospel messages (pt.2 or 3)and towards the end he says men should pray for a vision from God. He said people who preach visions are a thing of the past is nothing but academics, and we should believe in the supernatural. That is not an exact quote at all, but it was along those lines.
